Topic: NSFX not showing up in VDJ only

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

So, I finally got the NS7 and NSFX today. Got the NS7 working fine with VDJ, but the NSFX is not showing up under mappers at all. It does fire up fine with Itch though, so it does work. Is there a driver that I am missing (that is not on Numark's site)?

So, I just noticed VDJ 6.1. The controler is now recognized. Great job guys, fixed before I knew it was an issue.

So the NSFX is seen fine, but the map seems to be all screwed up. I have to "zero" out the Source knobs on deck A (on both decks) just to get it to control the effect P1 and P2, but that only works on deck 1. The deck 2 controls don't not seem to control deck 2's effects at all.

Also, if I use the effect select knob, it makes the effect P1 and P2 jump around and does not change the effect in the window.

I tried to default the mapper and have also tried the advanced mapper available for download here. Any other ideas?

BTW have you deleted old mapper and definitions files???

Thanks for the help, I will look into that page more.

The NSFX was not seen until I installed 6.1 and I only got the NS7FX last night. So all that was in it was the default one and the advanced one by cstoll. How ever, at one point (even after hitting defalt the mapper button in VDJ) I did delete the XML file in the VDJ folder. There is not one in there currently, so I assume it must be defaulted right now.

For others: NSFX mapper and definition contained in VDJ 6.1 is cstoll´s advanced NSFX mapper.
How NSFX works now.

Source: cstoll

This is an advanced mapping of the Numark NSFX that takes full advantage of the Source selection knob to provide access to not only FX, but Video and Mixer controls.

SOURCE Knob on A - Left Deck
You have access to the FX as labeled on the NSFX. If you press the SELECT knob it toggles the controls into Sampler control mode.
If right deck Source on A the right deck controls only have access to control Deck A's FX - not sampler

SOURCE Knob on B - Right Deck:
You have access to the FX as labeled on the NSFX. If you press the SELECT knob it toggles the controls into Sampler control mode.
If left deck Source on B the right deck controls only have access to control Deck B's FX - not sampler

TAP - Beat Tap
FX Mode -
FX - Activate the FX
FX_PARAM - FX Slider 2
FX_MIX - FX Slider 1
FX_SELECT - Select the Effect

SAMPLER Mode -
FX - Sample Activate
FX_PARAM - Sampler Volume
FX_MIX - Nothing
FX_SELECT - Select the Sample bank

SOURCE Knob on AUX - Control the Video Features
TAP - Activate Video Transition
FX - Activate the Video FX
FX_PARAM - Select the Video FX
FX_MIX - control the video crossfader
FX_SELECT - Select the Transition

SOURCE Knob on MAIN - Enhanced Loop and Audio Crossfader
TAP - Reloop Exit
FX - Loop
FX_PARAM - Loop Half (turned left) : Loop Double (turned right)
FX_MIX - control audio crossfader
FX_SELECT - Loop Move

The TAP LED will indicate what mode you are in -
If in the matching sides deck mode - Left on A and Right on B - then the Tap LED responds to get beat action in WHITE
If in the opposite side deck mode - Left on B and Right on A - then the Tap LED has the steady blink in RED
If in AUX - then the Tap LED is ON in RED
If in MAIN - then the Tap LED is ON in WHITE

Perfect so far so good, most of the controls are working. I had the right deck of the NSFX on source A. So I missed that part (User ERR ;).

But with that mapper, I still can't turn the FX Select knob to change the effect for that deck. When I turn the FX select knob it still makes the both of the P1 & P2 knobs for that deck, "jump around" (change adjustment) on screen.

Any idea?

Try the press FX select button
Do you have instaled any effects and samples?

So, it looks like when VDJ starts, the NSFX source knobs think they are set to "main" (but they aren't). To get it to work, I turn both knobs up to main and then back to thier appropriate deck (sometimes both to Deck A as we found out earlier ;). No biggie as I found it mostly works after this.

I do have effects and samples loaded. This made question made me think and I realized that I probably can't change the effect in the skin, which is what I was trying to do. I now realize that you can only use the FX Select Knob to change the effect, when the effect window is selected (in place of the browser). So yes, I now see how it is ment to work.

It would be cool to change the effect without ever leaving the browser window, because then I don't need the mouse to select that window, but I did see that I can go back to the browser window without the mouse. I just think it would be more "self explanitory" if it controled the skin element, if anybody has any suggestions?

Thanks for your help man. I love new toys, but I was tearing my hair out last night.

Yes, you have to 'calibrate' the NSFX each time you first fire up VirtualDJ ... its is just like 99% of the controllers out there because they don't 'report' what their current settings are. So, a quick turn of the Source knobs to Main then back to the appropriate position for use needs to be done.

Cool, thanks for the heads up and all the insane work on that mapper!

Any idea on scrolling though the effects on the skin, using the FX Select knob and without going to the effect browser window to do it?

Please don't post the same question or message more than once.

It's no-longer available to download because it is now built into VirtualDJ v6.1 as standard.

Please ensure that you have updated to the latest version http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html
