Forgive me for asking such a crazy question, but I am new to this. I am thinking about purchasing virtual DJ, but I have a question. If I set up bootcamp and install Windows XP will I be able to use the mp3 files that are on my Mac OS on the windows based VDJ, or will I have to move all of the MP3 files to the windows side of the partition on the hard drive? Thanks in advance.

In my experience it's better to have them on the bootcamp partition if that's where VDJ is. For some reason (I think to do with file systems) you cannot rename files in the Mac side from within windows, and I had problems with the Mac VDJ database accessing songs from the windows partition and changing the file locations for some reason.

I am generally using the Mac version now, but have all my songs on both partitions just in case. At least that way you can use either version when you want without any compatibility issues.

Thanks. What problems have you had with the MAC version?

There are a few little bugs in the mac version, it's not as "complete" as the Windows version.

I think skin tooltips are not displayed, bitrate is not updated in the database after scan, random crash on column movements but they are all niggly things that should hopefully get sorted in the next big update.

I also have intermittent problems with video playback but as I DJ audio only it's not an urgent issue. Seems others use the Mac version for video with no problems at all.

In other words the mac version is fine for me, been using it in the club for about 3 months and it's great!

hi Krad,

I am having some problems with my vdj. I am running the latest installed on my new MBP 2010 and have a mackie d2 pro setup. My d2 pro supports (in PC at least) 14 channels which I can use for outputs/inputs. In my pc version I have it setup well, and able to run two timecodes all on this mixer. (firewire rocks)

The reason why I have this setup is because I enjoy the flexibility in switching to real vinlys when ever I feel like it.

Right now, my problem is that I cannot choose any alternatives options in the Vdj Sound card setup dept. Only given a 4in4out as the only alternative to 'built in audio' I think the inputs are not routed properly in either MAC osx or Vdj.

I know my unit is working fine, as I am now using it back on my pc.

Any experience in the mac + timecodes + firewire mixer dept?

Thanks

andyc, for your last question, I'm trying to use my mac with VDJ+ Turntables+ timecode vinyls + soundcard & mixer (hercules RMX) so I'll post here the results.
