Topic: Hercules Rmx or Vestax VCI-100?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

I am looking at purchasing one of these external devices and I need your guys opinions. I was thinking about getting the Vestax because it looks more legit than the Rmx. If I were to purchase the Vestax, what sound card should I purchase? And if I purchase one of these than I would have to purchase the pro version of VDJ i assume even though they come with a limited version of VDJ.

I have both;

I used the Vestax VCI-100 with a Native Instruments AK1 soundcard for about a year in nightclubs. I then bought the Hercules RMX because of the soundcard being built in and more convenient (less wires to set up). I have now been using the RMX for nearly a year and have to say I prefer it to the VCI. I still have and am going to sell the VCI & AK1.

I will probably buy the new ADJ VMS4 next month and may sell my RMX next :-)

I am a professional DJ, I do this for a living and don't mind spending money on the right equipment to do my job.

My equipment setups over the last 12 years!

Thank you very much bro. I like them both but then again the RMX is a great deal because it has a sound card already built in so I will take that into consideration. Also knowing that you have been a DJ for many years and still use the RMX is great to hear. The only thing I worry about right now is money and I don't want to make a bad investment just in case I want to take it to the next level to the clubs (which is what I'm looking to do in the next couple of years) because I am a home dj right now recording mixes.

The RMX really sounds like the best bang for your buck.

i also use the rmx(very vdj friendly!)

however,do check it out the reloop digital jockey(interface edition has build in soundcard)
some people swear by with the rmx, others by reloop :)
and it's in the same price range!

Do you need a soundcard? If so, go with the RMX. Do you want more control? If so, go with the VCI100. Do you want the control and a built in soundcard? If so, go with the VCI300. Are you allergic to shellfish?

Maybe i'm just in love with my RMX but the Vestax stuff seems "more Tinny" and not as utilitarian and usable than the RMX.

Maybe its just me.

Hi everyone,

I am very new to all this. I have done a couple of sessions alongside a band and connected straight to their equipment. I am now thinking of investing in my own stuff. The RMX seems to be the logical choice on my level and could last me a long time (beginner+). What other equipment do I need that works well for 100 people max? what power?

If anyone could help start me on basics: How many speakers, what type, other things required, or direct me to a post (I can't find one) that would be fantastic.

Thanks again

i agree with the RMX, it's a workhorse, although the Vestax is nicer to use. PA-wise, powered speakers are good as you'll need no extra amplifier. Spending $400 should do you for 100 people oon a budget, but definitely look into second hand. If you're DJing out and about you may want to invest in a DJ light and a stand for it too - just something around the $150 mark to give your gigs a bit of colour on the dancefloor.

Here's a comparison of the Hercules RMX & Virtual DJ 6 vs Vestax VCI-300 & Serato ITCH

Thanks for that, things are already much clearer. Will I need an external sound card from the mixing table to the amp/speaker system?

For the output, is 2 side speakers + 1 centre + 1 sub sufficient (3x 80 W)? I guess it depends on the size of the room.

Thanks again for the help,

David
