ok heres the scenario, my pc started playing silly buggers by not turning on sometimes. then i noticed my daughters pc had better spec than mine. so after a lot of persuasion and a bit of sneak thievery loo, i managed to pry it from her sticky paws.
ive put my expansions in, including my soundcard. maya44 pci
when i tried to install the soundcard it kept saying files were missing even though i used the origional cd. also i downloaded the latest drivers etc but still get he same results.
this computer is running xp home (origional and legal) and has 2gig ram. not sire on the motherboard but it has a 2.8gig athlon processor.
untill i can afford to build a new pc in 3 weeks time then i want to see how things are with this seeing as the other one only starts when it really really wants to.
does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

ive built the odd system, make sure sound card is compatible with xp, look in hardware manager and see if drivers installed ok, try updating drivers over the net, find out whats required eg .... dx9c latest download from microsoft, also xp sp1, xpsp2, xpsp3 ???
try googling the fault or setup proceedures for the card
at a glance computer specs seem fine for audio

yup, all up to date and all compatible.
whats more frustrating, is when i had my sounbd problems in the past, i put the card into this computer to test it. and it went straight in. no problems.
so now im confused.
