I have done so many charity gigs. It is a valid marketing point - Im 18 years old and have been djing for 5 years. It is quite hard to get people to take you seriously these days when youre this young - but when they see me spin, they request me and no hassle on my part is done.

That being said, i do feel many times that i am taken advantage of. But either way, its a necessary evil that must occur sometimes. I have too many friends that expect me to dj for "Gas money." Not my real friends.

I would say to this woman that it costs me a lot of money to run this business, pay my employees, procure & upkeep of my equipment & your 2yr old with Cerebral Palsy probably won't make it anyway.

Whilst I would never be asking someone to work for free, as the parent of a 1.5 yr old who amonst other bad problems also has 'CP' please do not say that to the parents or anyone else. I pity the person who says that to my partner...

I suppose that's it, you have to ask yourself wether you really have to DJ for free or as good as. Personally I don't, I've worked hard since the age of 17 and have been booked every week from the age of 20.

Lamont, I know your 18 but even still.

@Lamont, sounds like you got the LOVE, dont sweat it bro you'll make it!! Like you said gotta take the good with the bad. Hell I dont think I could take most of these old geezers around here seriously, just read some of there post, lmfao!!

Keep Spinnin

Actually it does.
Because you are incorporated it does not work. For a single proprietorship like me it does..........

I'll elaborate more if you want, give me a call or a pm

11. Which donations qualify for an official donation receipt?
Gifts of services are not considered property and do not qualify for an official donation.

Theres probably ways around it.. but it doesnt give a lot of wiggle room.

i gave Dee a call on it.. she's kinda the expert on it.. ;-)
she'll find some official legal loophole.. LOL

I have two charities that I play for, free of charge. I personally know people who are involved in these charities. I have gotten jobs from doing work at both of these charities. Not a lot, but enough to make it worth doing. I have also been approached by flood victims asking me to play their wedding for free. I declined. At the same time, my wife lost her job last year and no one is having an event for us. I pick carefully, but do some charity work.
