Ok im getting a little fustrated with this i have tried everything i can think of but the problem wont go away. First my specs

Dell xps studio 1645
i7 chip
4 gigs of ddr3 ram
500 gig 7200rpm hard drive(dont store any music there though)
Use an external Hard Drive where i keep all my music
Hercules RMX
2 Denon s-3700

Ok here is my problem vdj freezes on atleast one time during gigs the music stops playing it does not shut down or anything i just stops playing when i have the denons 3700's connected the music stops but the platters keep spinning and i can start and stop the platters but no music i can even got to the settings page so i guess i should not call it a freeze because just the music stops and i have to shut down vdj and star it up again and the music comes back. i dont think it has anything to do with my s-3700's because this happens also when my hercules is only connected. i have updated all my drivers on the hercules and with denon. i also ran my dpc latency checker and it looks great all green i have also shut down everything i can shut down in the device manager. I would love for someone to help me with this because its just a little fustrating when i gig and my music just shuts off. Thanks in advance

If music just stops but the application does not lock - then your system is losing connection to the soundcard .. you can easily recreate it just by disconnecting the USB cable why a track is playing ....

So, either you have a cable going bad, port going bad, or maybe you never turned off the USB Power saving features - that way the system will never try to turn off the devices on a particular port.

Thanks cstoll for getting back to me very quickly how do i check to see if my port is in power saving mode?

Go to device manager and from the device tree - go to the last group of items where you will find your USB hubs. Right click on the them and view the properties - one tab should be Power Management - uncheck the option for turning off the device to save power.

Hi Ontrack Ents

This is a copy of my post almost the same as yours ..........

Please try what I did as it appears to have fixed the problem very un nerveing these freezes when giging !

The latency checker helped me fix problems I did not know I had after all it was a brand new laptop used purly as a gig machine.

Hope this helps ....................

Hi guys,

I am a new user as such since April 2010

I am running VDJ 6.0.8 pro (B231)

Acer Aspire 7736

Windows 7 Home premium, Intel 2 Duo T6600 2.20ghz,512mb Nvidia Geforce G210M video, 4 GB memory , 500GB int hard drive

Laptop is 6 months old

I have done 9 gigs with this software now, and it has crashed 4 times in this time.

Each time the decks freeze solid, I can search and try and drag and drop a song back on to the deck but nothing happens
each time I have not been touching the deck and no can offer no reason I ie same mp3 or Karaoke track.

The music just stops and the program wont let me play anything at all !

This last freeze / crash even after a re boot the VDJ would not work ???

Cant find any crash report ?? And can anyone advised of what this crash guard is and how to use it ?

Dave

Was advised to look in "crash guard" file there was nothing there.....see below to find it

Hi,

I have tried the Latency checker and my laptop was hitting 25,000 !!! Mostly red spikes

This appears to be the Nvidia Graphics card again like the post above disabling web cam and wifi helped.

It is still hitting 2000 ish some times but I have mostly Green & Yellow spikes now... but I have yet to have a crash (fingers crossed this has stopped it ) By installing latest driver for graphics card and turning the settting to performance not quality.

Thaks for your help !

Cheers
Dave

I'm having a similar problem. I have had the music to just stop on me a few times now . . . twice with a full dance floor. VDJ doesn't freeze or shut down . . .music just stops. I had already disabled usb power management, but I noticed that some of the more basic power management options were still enabled (hard drive sleep, screen saver, etc). I disabled them all after the last stop, which wasn't a total catastrophe thanks to my trusty iPod. I am wondering if this could be the reason for the music just stopping. As i said, it doesn't freeze. I can even start the same track up and it will play just fine. I have been testing and testing, and haven't had a problem yet . . . just looking for other possible causes.

Specs:
Dell Studio 1747 i7 Processor
Windows 7 Home Premium
8gb DDR3/1066mhz
2x320gb hdd 7200 rpm . . . which may have decided to take a nap in the middle of my gig =(
Hercules RMX

Oh yeah . . . ran latency check and nothing higher than like 512 . . all green.
