Hi all,

Relative noob here. I'm on the brink of getting a Macbook to make myself as mobile as possible, but before I do I wanted to know if I put VDJ on my Mac and roll up at a club, could I plug the Mac in to whatever hardware they may have on site and VDJ will recognise and adapt the interfaces/on screen look?

I have the VDJ version that came with the Hercules Steel. Would I need to upgrade to Pro to do this?

Thanks

You would need to upgrade to pro to do this yes..

And many clubs and venues have pre installed soundcards or mixers with soundcards inside, and VDJ will recognize almost all yes...

But more common, the dj brings his laptop, drive and his external soundcard and plug it into the Club's mixer.
Thats the more common scenario, and easy to set up, and works great with VDJ ;)

Niiiiiiiiice thanks for the prompt response.

I was hoping that was going to be the case.

VDJ Pro here I come!

This problem showed itself on Friday night at a DJ Comp...

A guy had turned up with his laptop (normally plays weddings) and was unfamiliar with club set-ups, the end result being he didn't play.

It's ALWAYS best to check with a venue before you get there...

As previously mentioned, nearly all venues will have two available channels for you to either plug in your RCA cables, or plug in theirs to your soundcard - DJIO, etc, etc...not your laptop 3.5mm socket.

You don't need to update to pro if your just going to plug your controller into their mixer.

You need pro if you want to use other sound-cards and time-code like serato.
Just plug into the SL1 Box (Make sure you have the asio drivers installed)
you can even use the serato timecode.

Now if your using your controller, just know there are 3 different type of connections to plug into a PA

RCA , 1/4 Inch and XLR, Always have them all with you at all time
long cables and short cables (at least the long ones hmmm 25ft?)
