Hi every1! im having some trouble with a few things with the VMS4 and im hoping sum1 can help me.

just finshed dee jayin at a club with the vms4 and im not happy, lol. i dont understand why the controller isnt mapped with the level faders n crossfader to the software, i had lots of distortion because i had levels on the mixer at the club, the vms4 mixer and on the software and found it hard 2 get that balance.

1. how do i get my 2 touch strips to work at the side of my deck 1 & 2 levels?
as they rnt mapped to anything and i dont no anything about mapping ive tryed 2 look in 2 this but its seem really hard 2 do.

2. im interested on playin on the vdj radio how would i go about this?

3. getting channel fader & crossfader on the VMS4 to work with vdj (so when i move the faders on the hardware it moves on the software, just like it does when u move the pitch controls)

just finished dee jayin at a club with the vms4 and im not happy, lol. i dont understand why the controller isnt mapped with the level faders n crossfader to the software, i had lots of distortion because i had levels on the mixer at the club, the vms4 mixer and on the software and found it hard 2 get that balance.

Thanks, hope some1 can help.

The reason that the level faders, cross fader and also eq rotary controls are not mapped to VirtualDJ software is simply that the VMS4 acts as a real mixer. These controls, unlike other MIDI controllers, are operating on the soundcard built into the VMS4 and NOT VirtualDJ software.

I have suggested elsewhere that a skin should be developed for use with the VMS4 that does not have these controls as they are not used in the software. It should be like a conventional CD controller with just transport controls. All mixing is done on the mixer NOT in the software.

Think of it this way, if you have a conventional twin CD player and mixer, the CD player usually has pitch bend, play, pause and loop buttons. But, you mix with the volumes and eq etc. on the mixer. In this situation, VirtualDJ only provides the transport part like your conventional CD player, VMS4 is where the actual mixing takes place.

The VMS4 defaults to "pre Eq" mode, meaning that the eq and volume faders operate on the sound AFTER it leaves VirtualDJ. This can be changed to "post eq" where the volume faders and eq can be mapped to operate on the sound BEFORE it leaves VirtualDJ software.

Note: You can put your VMS4 in "Post EQ mode" by holding down channel 4 cue button when powering up (page 20 of owners manual), but then you would need to map the controls to VirtualDJ.

Hope that helps you understand, seems that many people cannot grasp the concept of the VMS4.

Plenty of info going on in this thread about the VMS4;

Thanks for that info, few more things.

1. how do i do the mapping for the side strips?

2. how do i know if ive got the aiso driver installed as i am using a apple macbook pro and on the setting its none, external mixer,vms4 shudnt that be ASIO?

3.im not sure how to check on a mac if when ive held down on PFL CUE 4 when startin up vjd it has changed my eq modes?

thanks mate for ur help

The strips cannot be mapped to VDJ at the moment, they are too sensitive. Chris has explained this in the main VMS4 thread. It's worth reading.

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT VIRTUAL DJ IS A GREAT SOFTWARE BUT I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SAY THAT THEY STILL NEED TO UP YOUR GAME HAS I HAVE PURCHASED THE VMS4 AND BECAUSE VIRTUAL DJ WAS GIVEN WITH IS IT I THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE SOFTWARE, HARDWARE COMBO... BUT AS I READ WEATHER ON ABT THE VIRTAUL DJ AND VMS4 THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM BEING TOGETHER ITS CRAZY... ALL I HEAR IS THAT THIS DOESN'T WORK OR THAT DOESN'T WORK... WHY CANT YOU GUYS WORK ON VIRTUAL DJ SO CONTROLLERS CAN WORK 100% SO WE DON'T GET TONS OF PEOPLE ASKING WHY DOESN'T THIS WORK...etc...

PLEASE VIRTUAL DJ GUYS CAN YOU GUYS GET A VERSION OF VIRTUAL DJ THAT WORKS FULLY WITH CONTROLLERS IN GENERAL...

THANKS...

hey man, dont bash the devs, it isn't their fault. there are limitations, ya know. in the meantime, see if anyones cooked up a mapper to satisfy your needs.
