Hello,
First of all, this question is more targeted to experienced industry proffesionals.
Who's your supplier prefferance? Who do you get your mic's from, studio gear, mixers.... what do you think of them? Who's good who's bad? Let's start a disscussion.
For me it would be:
Mic's > Shure (SM58) or Rode (NT2), Neumans are good but quite expensive
Speakers > beringer TRUTH (cheap and sound nice)
mixer (dj and studio) > beringer deejay and the beringer usb mixer
I prefer beringer purely because of the price, I've heard all the stuff about terrible build quality but I wanna see one that has fallen apart before I beleive it.
DAW > Fruity Loops, of course :P, cuss I use PC. I have tried Pro Tools, love the quality but I hate the enefficiency - it's meant for bands and not electronic artists.
hehe, my spelling is terrible but hope you get the msg.

Behringer sound stuff is good. I use a Berhinger usb mixer to record my podcasts http://mikeleeandterrymartin.libsyn.com/ I'm not a big fan of Behringers speakers but if it works for you don't let anyone talk you out of them. I would stay away from Berhingers DJ stuff however.
The Shure SM58 is a long time standard for both quality and, durability. NASA uses the SM58 to record the space shuttle lifting off. It is the only mic that can withstand the vibrations generated by the rockets. Youtube search SM58 and laugh your butt off. There are videos of them being frozen, dropped off towers, driven over by cars, and still working.
Good luck...

When I built my system I designed it to DJ, KJ, and run small bands.
Speakers - Yamaha passive BR15x2
Subs - Yamaha powered MSR 800x1
Mixer - Yamaha MG12/4 analog w/ effects
Amp - QSC RMX2450
Mics - Shure wireless (1x headset for me and 1x mic for guest)
Mics - 2 mic wireless cheap for Karaoke - not even sure of the name but cheap - they break them.
As you can tell I love Yamaha and am a huge fan of QSC amps and may eventually go to QSC speakers ($$$).
The sound I get from this system is awesome!!

If im going to buy equipment from the store, I go here. http://www.proaudiostar.com/ You wont find it for less. In the website, Ignore the prices you see. Call them on the phone to find out what they are asking because it will be less than the advertised price. On top of the cheaper price, the items get shipped for free.

yer the shure wireless isn't as good as the sm58 (which I didn't know they used in NASA, prety cool) but most people wouldn't really notice. They're more meant for short PA announcements rather than performances or, as if you would, recordings.
Hey Caliente123, do those guys ship to Auz? Might check em out. Also, the maximizer sounds more at home in a studio; you really take that thing out to sets?
Gotta say I do like pioneer for the sheer quality, I seen people stand on the desks and they still play flawlessly! Although, I've noticed the higher you get up in the range the less simple and more pointless you get - not what I'd be paying in excess of $2k for.
Airbornegary - Yer yamaha's are insanely powerful, I'm a bit scared about buying some myself for that reason; last time I used some they nearly blew up :) Do sound great though.
