Topic: Why are they Yellow

Hi everyone,

Will I finish fixing my music library and ran my library overnight last week...

Today when I load up I notice that my Filter directory with I used adding this "isscanned=0"
is full again...

I checkout a few on the songs and I know I ran those before but today they came up Yellow and showing up in the filter again...

What is going on...???

I did remove and add a couple of sub-directory when I found a couple of songs need a little more fixing...

I fix the tag and reload the song to have the tag control the fields...

Anyway, I hope this is causing my files to turn yellow again...

I try to follow all that you has did but got lost a little...

That is way more then I have done...

I'm new user and just got VDJ 6.1.1...

I did what I was told to do with fix the gain problem I first found with VDJ...

Created the FILTER using isscared=o
and ran the my library of 10,000 songs which toik about 18 hours...
The next day when I re-open and looked and any directory
I could not find any yellow anywhere...

Couple of days go by and still no yellow...
then got a couple of song and found those few songs in the FILTER...
Great, works just the way I thought it should...
Few more days on by...
Which those days I started fixing a few songs tags...
Removed and then added those directory to gets the tags to come up right...
Everything going fine then I notice the yellow when I re-created the FILTER which I had somehow remove...
When then I see the yellow on ran just a few days earlier... ???

I don't know where next to go...
I really don't want to re-run all these files again just to again find yellow...

Please...!!!
Can anyone else help...???
Or should I call VDJ help desk...???
Is this a VDJ 6 Bug...??? (sorry for calling it a bug but this does bug me)

It seems like something is happening ever time you fix tags. I use the same filter folder system to keep track of new tunes I add and it has always worked for me.


Hmmm............maybe retrace your steps from when you start fixxing your tags. Sorry I couldnt be more help.

Cad, you don't have to remove your files from VDJ in order to get the updated tags. There's a command on your right-click menu for this. Also, if you did remove a folder to re-create the tags and then added this folder again VDJ will need to scan the entire folder, not just the "new" or "renamed" tracks. VDJ DOES NOT write ANY info on the tags themselves. This means that once it loose track of a file it needs to rescan it.

BTW: Did you go to configuration and hit the "Check-Clean-Fix" browser options at any time???

I will also check and begin doing as you noted to fix my tags...

I ran the files again last night I becuase this time it was only a few hours I quest it is as you noted...

BTW: I have your program but having used it yet...
Also, you may know why when I work on VDJ and then load the files in 5.2 I get "yp6" on my file...
I notice that all I need to do it open them in itunes and re-run the tags to 2.3 even if it is list as 2.3.
Once I do that I can read the tags again in 5.2...

If you have anything why his happens please tell me...
I'm banking on my 5.2 this year and hope by next year to be using only VDJ...

This is a unicode issue. Files that appear as "yp6" or other strange combinations are files that have their tags saved in unicode. When you open re-run your tags through i-tunes they are converted back to ANSI. If I recall correctly VDJ 5.X did not support unicode tags.

PS: If you refer to my "VDJ to ID3 Tags" application then I should let you know that it works but it's obsolete. A completely new app is coming soon.

Like always, a simple and straight answer...
You should be working for one of these companies Phantom... :)

That is very cool and I totally understand my small but important (to me) problem...
I will continue updating my newer directory and not cross over to the directories that RED 5.1 uses...

I will google unicode to get a better understand...

BTW:
Last night VDJ rocked the party...
I did a sweet 16 party and use VDJ 80% of the time...
I only used RED 5.2 because I was able to find some sets easier...
I have yet finished editing all VDJ music library tags but when I do watch out... hahaha
 
If you want the best solution you should use an app like "Tag & Rename" which has an option whether or not it should write unicode data on your tags.
Also it would be better if you google "UTF-8" instead of "Unicode"

I will check out tag and rename but I think I have a great handle now with my little problem because of your direct help...
