Topic: Database information gone?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

All my BPM, key, etc information has gone. When i open up my music folder in VDJ nothing is there. The database file is still in ....Documents/VirtualDJ.... I cant figure out what has happened.

It seems to be exactly when i setup my new M-audio X sessions pro. I first downloaded the drivers from m -audio website, even though in the manual it said it doesn't need drivers for windows 7 i figured if they are on the website why not install them.

Windows still installed the device with microsoft drivers.

When i opened virtual dj with my m-audio x session pro plugged in for the first time, along with my other Midi controller, external soundcard, and mouse plugged in all my BPM, key etc information was not there

now when i open Virtual DJ my sound settings go back to default. whatever. ie 'inputs: none' 'outputs: single output' etc.

...Also when i close Virtual dj it wont close properly. Say there is no music playing, i click on the"X" at the top right hand corner and VDJ does not close it takes about 8 seconds then if you click on VDJ windows asks if you want to close the program. Then it takes another few seconds for it to close.

Also my BCR (my other midi controller) registers when i first open Virtual DJ but if i close it and reopen it it does not detect my BCR...... but detects the m-audio x sessions pro where as before it detected the BCR everytime no matter how many times i opened, reopened VDJ?

I believe that your problem is the new drivers you have installed. When VDJ opens it tries to communicate with the drivers and it fails. That;s why you get Inputs none e.t.c.
Also that's the same reason that VDJ crashes on exit since it tries to close the drivers (the soundcard communications).

Try to uninstal the new drivers and see if that helps.

PS: I know that this answer is not satisfying, but at least it will give as a starting to point to troubleshoot the issue...

Sorry i don't know about microsoft drivers, when u install a device and microsft searches for a driver i always wonder how microsoft can get a bit of software to get it to work.

Thats why i downloaded the m audio drivers

I uninstalled the m-audio driver and everything works fine now.

whats the go with the microsoft drivers. Like does windows search for a driver then find it, say on the m-audio website then label it as microsoft in device manager?

Thanks.

No, Microsoft installs it's own "Generic" drivers and while it may sound stupid sometimes it's the best option for particular pieces of hardware...
