Hey Everyone,

So I just got my RMX controller and I am having a bit of a problem. I am running a Macbook Pro, Leopard with VDJ 6.0.1. I have a quarter inch adapter to plug my headphones into my controller using the input on the top right of the RMX. I plug that in, and then I have the 1/8" to RCA (red and white) plugged into my headphone jack in my actual laptop.

My issue is that I don't know which output to put the Red and White into on the back of the RMX, because right now I can hear everything through my headphones but I am not getting any sound through the internal speakers of my computer. I don't understand why I tried everything.

Do I need more wires? Do I have the ones that I need to be able to run this correctly? Obviously I want sound coming out of my laptop as my mix and then be able to hear the cue's through the headsets.

Any help would be appreciated because I am stumped.

A little confused about audio connections aren't we ?

Just remember that, as the name implies, Outputs are to be used when sending an audio signal out of a device (i.e. the iPod is sending the signal TO your headphones), where Input are just the opposite.

Now in your setup, you can see that having the Output of the Rmx being connected to the Output of the computer won't provide you with the results you are expecting. Actually, using your computer's speakers with and external device requires a little more configuration that you might expect.

- First, connect the cable from Output 1/2 of the console to the LINE input of the computer

- Next, download LineIn from this page:

- Run LineIn, leaving everything as default, and click Pass thru

You should now get the main output mix from the Rmx in your computer speakers.

However, I would highly recommend using a dedicated pair of speakers for DJing. The intergarted speakers are just not made for that...

Thank you so much I will try this as soon as possible. However, if you say I should use different speakers for it, if I do have my speakers and I plug them into the input on my computer, is the sound setup still going to work while running linein? As in, my headphones can be used to cue and the sound will be coming out of my speakers?

The speakers should be connected to the back of the Rmx (Output 1/2). Doing so, you won't need to use the LineIn procedure since you won't need to use the computer's speakers. Headphones will still work as they do now.
