Topic: Creating a dedicated computer for VDJ

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hello all,
I currently have a Vista :-( laptop with a Core 2 Duo, 2Ghz proc. 3Gb RAM and I want to use it strickly for VDJ, basic web surfing with internet security. I want to do this because when I mix there is a hick up during usage and I believe there are other programs causing this. Are there any ideas out there and are my specs suitable.

Thanks for your time,
much appreciated!

Hi there blaggsmith

You may want start with the following link...

http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/62907/PC_Version_Technical_Support/Asorted_Software_Guides__(common_fixes_and_tweaks_and_how_2_s).html

The guide there will point you in the right direction for tweaking vista. Unless you -really- need to, IMO I would'nt run any other progams in the background like antivirus or intrnet security if this computer will only be used for DJing exclusively and anything you load or attach to the laptop like external drives you trust and are sure they are clean. As programs like these will tend to run scans in the background and cause spikes in CPU and drives usage that may cause Virtual DJ to hesitate while running.

As for your laptop specs, you should be totally fine for using it and it passes the min specs Virtual DJ needs to run. You may want to look into upgrading to windows 7 as from what I have seen in the forums and from personal expirence, windows 7 runs lighter and more reliable than vista ever has.

Thanks djwishbone,

I will take your advice and strictly use is for VDJ only, when I have the budget for it I will also upgrade to Windows 7. Any thoughts about a Mac Book Pro? I am so in love with it and thinking about going towards that.

Thanks for your help!

First off sorry for getting your names wrong. It's blaqqsmith. Now it makes sense!

As for a Mac book. I don't use one but a buddy of mine does and he loves it and swears by it. So do alot of others in the forums. It's whatever you are comfortable using.

Happy to help out!

Cheers
