I love all the new features of VDJ7, but it struggles to stay on beat with my SAMPLES. I use a few of the DRUM samples to add more zest and it drifts off. I have the MATCH PITCH checked and the BEATLOCK checked. I'm new to this program, having just started with version 6, but ver 6 does a much better job staying on beat with these samples that came with or from the VDJ website. And when I increase the beats per minute, the vocals quickly sound like chipmunks and I have to go to the KEY button to tweak it. It stays on beat for a brief moment, then drifts badly. It's frustrating. I'm going back to version 6 until I find a way to solve this. I've read where one other guy had trouble with ver 7 staying on beat too. And I think this is important, staying on beat! I've ordered the Hercules Steel and I'm hoping that it helps somehow. I was showing version 7 off to the wife and she kept saying, "It's off key again". And it was.
I noticed that with ver 6, you can increase the BMP quite a bit before the vocals go without having to tweak the KEY, and with ver 7 you can't travel nearly as far without having to adjust the KEY.
Any suggestions are welcome!

you are using 4 or 6 deck skin right?
The only thing you need to keep an eye on is WHAT DECK to sync to.
In multi deck skin, this would be marked as MASTER DECK
So for your samples, effects etc to be in beat, you have to choose a MASTER DECK for it to sync to.
Then it works just like before ;)

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I'm using the 2-deck skin right now.
So the deck I start on is the master, right? Not many choices with just 2 decks...

actually, try this.. even better..
- Use 4 deck or 6 deck skin, and put the samples you want to use on one of the decks instead (and use them as sample decks).
That way you have 100% control of the BPM of the sample (can be wrong, so you can adjust), pitch, sync, key etc :)

The problem with that method is that they don't automatically loop like they do when using the sampler, and trying to set an accurate start and end point isn't easy using the decks.
I've tried it and it's no fun.
If the decks were able to recognise *.vdj loops and switch to a 'sampler' mode it would work better.

I use drum loops all the time and I never have a problem setting the loops. I think if you have good samples to start with then its no problem. If anybody need drum loops just give shout.

Huey, I'd love to try your loops. How can I acquire them?

.
.
1) Make sure the samples/sounds have correct bpm
2) turn on auto loop
3) click loop lenghty
= Perfect loops ;)

@tndj4u, I sent you a link for some drum loops.

Huey, didn't get the email with the link yet...
Can you post the link here?

Ok I have just tried that.
They don't get CBG analysed automatically. I have to manually add and adjust a CBG to each one.
After doing that, and pressing 'in' & 'out' and changing the length to be correct - it loops nicely.
But - if I press cue then press play again, it doesn't loop any more - so I have to set in, out and length over again.
In the sample player, loops always loop. They don't reset to single play if they're stopped.

Check your "Private Messages" up to.
@Groovin, the only way its gonna not loop after you started the loop is if you hit the out or number that its looping. Why would you stop it. Since the release of 7 I setup my decks with whatever loops im gonna use and leave em. Once setup there's no need to touch em. So ill use 1 loop for 3/4 tracks then switch. I use drum loops, kinda as the main beat if that make sense to you.

Another way i quickly edit loops that don't line up perfect is with the cue points. Cue 1 is the start and cue2 is the end. This works really good on skins that show the cue points in the waveform.
Just some ideas

Well I'm used to working with pro samplers since the Akai S900 in 1986, and with those once you've set a loop it always loops.
If you stop it then start it again, it loops.
If you turn off the sampler, when you turn it back on and load the same sample, it still loops.
Even the VDJ sampler page does that.
What I'm experiencing so far with loading samples/loops into the decks is poor in comparison.
I don't have an issue with going back to the VDJ sampler.
I was just hoping for an improvement in v7, as it would save having to run Ableton Live with ReWire in the background, just for a few loops.
