Hi guys...

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to put audio from a pc into a mixer and then use the mixer to go back into the same pc via the computer's line in socket?

I'm looking to record multiple sources into my computer. But then i want to hear what i've recorded on my pc through the same mixer.

I keep getting ridiculous amounts of feedback and whilst i understand why i'm getting it, i can't get my head round how to fix it...grrrr.

Anyone?

Cheers...and keep spinnin'...(",)

Well if you understand why you're getting feedback, you're half way there.

You've created a loop. You need to break the loop by not feeding the output back 'live' to the input.

Monitor it using headphones rather than routing it back through the mixer again.

It would help to know a bit more about what you're trying to do, and what kit you're using.

What i want to do is be able to record audio from sky or a dvd for example onto my computer. I then want to have the option to record those files from my computer to a minidisc...effectively giving me two copies.

Surely i need to return the recorded signal back to mixer in order to record it onto a minidisc?

:o|

If you treat them as two separate processes you won't have any issues.

Record the audio to your PC. No feedback.

When it's completed, play it back and record it on the MD. No feedback.

Or if you really want/need to do both recordings at once, record from the mixers 'master out' to the PC and use the 'record out' or 'booth out' to feed the MD.

Geez, talking about making things complicated....just set your line-in on mute from Window's mixer settings. This prevents the signal you're recording from playing out from the speakers - and thus creating a feedback loop.

Lmfao!! That's what I was gonna say. K.I.S.S.

Did you not read the first post?

He wants to use the line-in to record from the mixer. If he mutes it, all he'll record is silence.

The best way to record on the same computer is to install a second sound card.

Soundcard 1: main playback device
Soundcard 2: Main record device

You can hook anything up to your recording soundcard, Line Source, Microphone, Line mixer, etc.

However if you are recording multiple tracks EI, remixing or Live Band, you will only be able to record the final mix out. If you want to adjust levels of any one sound after recording you need a sound editing software such as adobe audition, and record each sound (track) individually and then mix then down to a single stereo mixdown.
