First off I would like to say thank you for putting out a great product. I love Virtual DJ. I mostly do videos above everything else.

Anyway, I'm playing a Thanksgiving Eve show at local bar for about 300 plus people and everything is going great. The dance floor is packed, mixing some great songs and everyone is partying and dancing on the bars, stages; all over the place. As I was taking a few requests, an individual came up to request a song and seen I was using Virtual DJ. He said, Oh Virtual DJ I have a copy I downloaded from the net. He begins to tell me about his fantastic pirated copy he aquired. I took his request and sent him on his way.

Now I do all sorts of events. Weddings, Reunions, bars; you name it. I swear I've been approached by more people this year claiming to have Virtual DJ. I'm not talking about the free version, or limited, but copies of the pro versions. Yeah, maybe there not running version 7, but they have working copies.

I'm tired of the people coming up to me and trying to be on the same scale as a paying pro version user. For all I know they think I'm running a pirated copy as well. I'm their to run a show not teach these scumbags ethics.

I'm just talking about software here. Sure I have great sound, video and lighting, but I'm talking about the software we all use.

Now I know we need the trial and free versions. This helps people try the software, upgrade and become future pro user themselves. Some anyway. I also understand, without these people, getting free upgrades and future advancement of Virtual DJ would be impossible.

I just Wish in some future version this software could somehow be locked if they haven't purchased Virtual DJ. I love this software, but I don't want it be seen as a cheesy generic software that everyone possesses.

I moderated your double messages.

In the Middle East they used to chop a hand off a theive that was caught steeling, however since the conflict they had to stop doing it as many war vetrans that had hands and arms missing were been branded theives!

Next time say this. Wow, so you're a thief. Thanks for letting me know. I'll be sure to let the other guest know, in case anything is missing. Now,if you'll excuse me, I have work to do.

I don't let it bother me anymore,

I know I've been approached many times with the, Oh I have that software at home too, ..but look who's being Paid,....beside it's your ability to spin and make the right Choices that's at the heart of your success, VDJ is a tool that you choose to use to help you in pursuit of that success to a better higher paying gig....

....So don't worry yourself about The how they got it, think of it as... it's a good tool to have So No Wonder...

You did the right thing towards the support and development of a Great Product,.. at the end of the night You and your pocket are being rewarded for making The Right Choice....

Good Luck,

Joey....

Cracked VDJ7 versions were out within days of release. Many people that own the paid versions now, tried the cracks first. I'm not saying its a good thing but its near impossible to stop and if it gives people an opportunity to learn a bit more about djing, maybe they will appreciate seeing a dj with real skills that bit more. My theory is that if you work on improving what you can do with the software then some people will understand its not just about the tools you choose to use, but how you use them.

I own the same ball they use in the NFL but I can't play like Peyton Manning....

It doesn't really bother me either, other than Atomix is loosing income. But I don't think a lot of the pirates would purchase a legal version if they couldn't get a cracked one

It like the change in music availability. Back in the early 90's it was all about having a lot of good music since you had to go buy the cd's/vinyls. But then came mp3/napster and now streaming with or without membership, so now probably half the people in the room have most of the new stuff I play on their cellphone or at least access to it withing seconds

But thats fine, because it's not about having a lot of music, or which tools you use to play it. It's which song you choose to play, in which order and how you mix and tweek it. And if you're mobile also about having a proper rig that sounds (and looks) nice, and the abillity to tweek it to sound as good as possible in any given room/situation

So we are back to it not so much being about what you own and use, but much more about the craft of using it. And thats fine by me :)

Best regards
Klaus

Except you have to PURCHASE the ball not just download a cracked copy.....I wonder how they prevent "hacked" copies of everything the Star Trek replicators can produce? Have you noticed most sci-fi shows never have any currency except in limited instance.
