Topic: Virtual DJ another MIDI Controller for effects

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Ive been using VDJ for a long time now and own the Hercules MK4 Controller...
I absolutly hate using the mouse so most of the buttons on the controller itself ive mapped to enable effects...most of us use beatgrid but that requires the mouse to change the settings u cant use the "keylearn" feature in mapping

So i was wondering if i got another midi controller would i be able to use that to control a whole program of effects...i.e. can i have a seperate program such as beatgrid running in the backround in which the midi controller controls however i can still turn it on and off via virtual dj

so basically virtual dj knows im running this effect but it does not control it at all the seperate midi controller runs it

i mean beatgrid is fantastic but i prefer buttons and the turntables.

thanks

bump?
As far as controllers, you should definetly look into the korg nanokontrol, behringer B-Controll line, or the novation nocturn or something similar, basicly a box of buttons, knobs, or faders that you can map as you like.

As far as mapping though, I have yet to find a way to map a button on my controller to a specific parameter or action within VST's including the Beatgrid, say, switching between which preset within Beatgrid activates. Any help would be appreciated.

You can have a set of MIDI buttons to activate different beatgrid patterns if you like. It's a bit of a cheat, but it works for me. Go into your plugins folder, and locate the beatgrid.dll and associated beatgrid file. Copy and paste duplicates into this folder, but rename them to beatgrid1.dll, beatgrid2.dll, etc etc. They will now appear in VDJ as seperate plugins, each can have their own pattern, and of course each can be assigned their own MIDI button. Like I said, it's a bit of a cheat, but it works!

does vdj even allow the use of 2 midi controlers at once?

Yeah, I've used my DAC-2 alongside another midi controller and it was fine. Might run into problems if you were trying to use two of the same controller though...

You can't go wrong with the Korg NanoKontrol. Been using it for awhile now and love. And yes you can use more then 1 control. I have 3, an Ecler NUO 4 midi mixer, Korg NanoPad and the Korg NanoKontrol.

Good Luck

Hey beatbreaker 1, which controller do you use to trigger your effects and are they only the banked effects or can you trigger more then the twelve in the effects tab?

Joey....

i have to tell you... try the korg nano was only 60$, i absolutely love it. i just recently picked up an x5 but have been using the nano to do all my vdj moves and shortcuts. i could crossfade perfectly with just one touch.. had left/middle/right deck 1 on/off deck 2 on/off et etc. i might add it back in my system after i put everything back together using 2 v7's and x5
