Topic: Cheapest way to use Pioneer CDJ-800's with VDJ?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

I am a CD DJ for the past 20 years and I am finally getting fed up with cd's skipping.

I want to start using time code cd's and dj software with my pioneer CDJ-800's.

I was able to get it to function with ASIO4ALL and my cd players... but.... my loop buttons on the cd players and my track buttons have no effect. All I can do is play/pause and scratch "slightly" I can only jiggle a short distance.

I am new to this digital stuff so I know I am an idiot....

I need to do this as cheaply as possible for the time being. What do I need to do to get these cd players functioning 100% with the software? Would a American DJ Versaport - 4x4 Soundcard solve the problem? Or is it not sound card related, but I need a controller unit to get full functionality? (like I said, something cheap to get me by for a few gigs until I can put real money into it.)

Pioneer CDJ-800s are not MIDI controllers and can only control VirtualDJ by using timecode CD's: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/timecode/cd.html (You will need the Pro grade timecode file.)

To use these, you will need VirtualDJ Pro http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html and a suitable 4-in/4-out ASIO sound card such as Hercules DJ Trim, Native Instruments Audio DJ 4, ESI Maya44, etc.

Because you are still using CD's to control playback, they could still skip, but less likely to be damaged due to no need to keep changing CD's each song.

For direct MIDI control of VirtualDJ, you should invest in one of the new Pioneer MIDI/HID capable players (No timecode CD's required), such as CDJ-900.
