In my opinion, i am moslty a Mobile DJ so, yeah I take requests , a lot!
In fact it give me a good feeling of what my crowd likes, i tend to play most of them if it is reasonable.

The smartest thing I ever did to hinder that problem was hire my boy to take all request for me so I can concentrate on mixing, so whenever I take a water break or something, then have them in writing so I can get to them faster and now because of technology I have him text me the request to crackberry!

that's what the guy who taught me the trade.. got me to do he had two rules first learn how to deal with customers and then ,learn how to deal with the tracks..
now before every1 gets up in arms I'm talking about Ireland here its totally different that what it is like in the states or else where a DJ here is more like a walking talking jukebox...

but see request are all about Wat type of dj you are.... if you are a mobile dj you gotta take requests im sorry but people are paying you money so they can hear want they want to hear of course dont be a puppet neitheir finding the balance is the key.... if you are a club dj then request aren't the necessary really.... as i was told once if you don't get any request than you are playing all the songs that the crowed wanna hear so your are doing a great job.....
my appreciator always had a second rule of thumb on request the better looking a women was the more likely he was to play that track... now hands up all the djs that wouldn't take a request from a fine looking women no matter if they take requests or not....

I'm in the middle of a 'warm up' karaoke set, (suddenly realizing that there is no such thing lol) and a girl who's just got here comes up to the booth and screeches in my ear..I want to sing blah blah blah..?
