i'm flying home and this is the first time i'm ever flying with my hercules RMX and Korg Kaossilator Pro. Thought i'd ask here before the airline company seeing as though i haven't bought the ticket yet. Would i be able to take my laptop, RMX and Kaossilator on my carry-on luggage or would i need to check it in as baggage? How do you guys fly with your gear? Thanks.

think i might have found my own answer. i'm assuming my RMX and KP are considered musical instruments http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/editorial_1235.shtm
kind of a fine line between musical instruments and DJ gear though.

me personally i would bring them as hand luggage as the wony weight that much.
plus have you seen how they throw luggage around.

Hand luggage everytime, no problem, I had a RMX written off due to my bag been thrown off a plane.

Ok....ummmm what about us guys that use turntables and such that are considering doing an overseas flight? I can promise they won't let me take 3 cases or even a coffin in carry on luggage, lol (or 5 cases if I am running a true 4 deck system by then). and I REALLY don't want to get there and find out I have bashed up tone arms or something of such nature. Any advice for that (other than charter a private jet)?

Anything other than your personal stuff, e.g. Laptop, Soundcard, Midi Controller just isn't worth it unless your moving to live there permanently.
Why would you want to take turntables when you can just hire them when your there, the hire charge would be less than the transport fee's!

I love my tables, but more importantly it is a liability thing to me honestly. If I happen to break something on accident, I'd rather it be on my own personal gear than someone else's gear. Just a thing for me really...not sure everyone else feels the same way but that is just one of my little quirks. Also, I don't like using gear that other random people (in the case of rented gear, SEVERAL random people) have had the chance to mess with/mess up. With my personal gear I know it is going to work when I want it to. Again, another quirk.
