Topic: native mappers for external mixers

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

why are there no native mappers for midi supported external mixers like the djm 700/800/5000 in vdj.
or why are they not in the download section.

It is because every mixer that is MIDI does not disable the ON BOARD audio features when in MIDI mode. So if you map a EQ knob to a EQ function in VirtualDJ then you are doubling the change to the EQ - once in the software and also at the hardware.

The only real changes a User of MIDI capable mixer would need is if they are a Video DJ. This would be for mapping the internal video crossfader to the on-board mixer crossfader. This is done very simply with the SimpleMIDI mapper.

Now if the user wants to map other knobs, sliders, buttons, etc to a VirtualDJ VDJScript action - again, it is very simply done through the SimpleMIDI option in the Mappers tab.

And lastly, 99% of the comments I have seen about people actually making mapping files - they have been very custom choices and that is why you are not seeing them posted for download. But there are a couple in the download area - DN-X1600, DN-X1700, Allen & Heath Xone:3D, DJM-700, DDM4000, etc -- look here - http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/controllers.html -- make sure you look past the first page :)

hi chris,

thanks for explaining,

did not know about the double eq.
that makes mapping the whole thing a bit useless.
tnx

These are real hardware audio DJ mixers and do not need to be mapped, except for the video crossfader if you are a video DJ (Easy to map via Simple MIDI Wrapper) and possibly some unused spare knobs/sliders to control other functions such as sampler, effects, etc. (Although each DJ will have their own preference how and what these should be mapped to.)

Also, if the mixer does not have its own built-in USB MIDI interface (I.e: You need to use a separate USB MIDI cable or the MIDI interface in a sound card), it is not possible to natively support it (There is no way to uniquely identify it.)
