Topic: Numark v7 Turntable - Latency in VDJ7

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

I just bought a Numark v7 USB Turntable from Guitar Center Online:

There is a latency, between scratching and the VDJ7 software (v7.0.2). I have tried the hardware with "ITCH for the v7" (software that came with the hardware) and it seems the device is capable of being used without latency.

Any tips on how to get rid of the turntable latency?

Notes:
Tried on Win7 Pro 64 bit AND WinXP Pro 32 bit.
There are other issues, I am starting other respective threads on them.

Post ALL your issues here ... then we can sort them all out.

BTW, I removed the pic - we all know what the V7 looks like ....

I also bought a Numark V7 usb turntable from guitar center today and attempted to run it on VDJ7 pro with huge problems. I got everything set up so that the sound is tolerable from the V7 deck, but this is only when the motor is turned OFF, which negates my whole reason for purchasing the V7. When the motor is ON VDJ thinks that I am scratching and my computer usage jumps to about 100% (typically when mixing runs about 40%). I was very pleased with the V7 that i used at guitar center and if possible want to keep this unit, but only if I can get it running with low latency and good sound quality. I also added a numark NDX800 to my set up and there have been absolutely NO issues in a week of use and I couldn't be happier with it. Please let me know if anyone has advice on what I can do to fix this problem.

I am running a HP Pavillion with a Intel core 2 duo @ 2.0 GHz with 4.00 GB RAM on windows 7 enterprise 64-bit. My hardware includes a Hercules RMX controller, Numark NDX800 CDJ/usb controller, and my soundcard is a Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1.

I also bought a pair and after hearing the issues of no support from anywhere. I am ready to return mine for SL3 and turntables. I am so afraid to open the box and I am very much doubting my purchase was wise. It appears they built the hardware solid and "HOPED" to pick up support from DJ applications. IT appears these decks are very demanding of system resources using so much cpu cycles that the laptop needs to be paired of any running software / drivers not absolutely necessary for running ITCH. V7s have been out over a year and still no support. It does not appear numark is even trying or maybe their concept is flawed and a moving platter is just too difficult to accurately monitor with many variables. Maybe they need an overhead laser to track the vinyl platter or just have a dumb motor that spins the platter however the spindle is fixed to the vinyl. Whatever the issue it all comes down to this. Hardware without software will never work.

Sorry numark... I really wanted these decks to be great. However I don't want to be stuck with tables that are DOA.

Minimum System Requirements:

Windows

* 32-bit
Windows 7 / Vista: Intel* processor, 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo; 2MB L2 cache; 2GB RAM
Windows XP: Intel* processor, 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo; 2MB L2 cache; 1GB RAM
* 64-bit
Windows Vista: Intel* processor, 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo; 2MB L2 cache; 4GB RAM
Windows 7: Intel* processor, 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo; 3MB L2 cache; 4GB RAM

Guys theres your problem why it will not run properly , you are at or in dlebos case below minimum specs of the hardware, Its not vdjs fault. to be honest most notebook computers arent really powerful enough to run the newer hardware devices ns7 and V7, so thank the guy who sold it to you most likely it was runnig off a 32 bit machine-

Hope This helps, I know your frustration... I have lived it,

I bet if you were using windows 7 32 bit it would operate much better ---

If this helps anyone I am running (2) v7's & a Hercules RMX WITH vdj v6 - v7.0.2 on (2) different 4 or 5 year old laptops. One is a Gateway MT6701 & the other is an Acer Aspire 9410. specs are 1.6ghz Centrino DUO Processor, 533MHZ FRONT SIDE BUSS, 2MB L2 CACHE, 2gb ram, 224MB SHARED INTEL 950 ACCELERATED VIDEOCARD' 1.5TB EXTERNAL HD & I RUN VIDEO WITH 40-50 % CPU FINE using VISTA 32BIT ULTIMATE. I ALSO RUN A BEHRINGER BCD2000 & vdj V5.07 ALL NIGHT AT THE CLUB RUNNING 4 SCREENS & A PROJECTOR. NOW MY MACHINES ARE SUPPOSE TO BE UNDER SPECS BUT THEY RUN FLAWLESSLY ON VISTA ONLY. THE GATEWAY IS A TRIPPLE BOOT (XP, VISTA & W7 ULTIMATE) , THE ACER IS A DUAL BOOT (VISTA & W7). NOW FOR ME VDJ FREEZES, HICCUPS & CRASHES ON XP & W7 & WILL ONLY RUN ON VISTA?? HOPE THIS INFO CAN HELP. ALSO THE VISTA PARTITIONS ARE MAINTAINED AND DEDICATED TO VDJ ONLY.

Word, it appears I will be switching my system over to 32-Bit. I made all the preparations to do this, but wanted to make sure that this would be the best option. Thanks for the help.

i WOULD HOPE THAT IT WOULD, ALSO THE TYPE OF DJ YOU ARE AND HOW GARDIDLY YOU USE THE NUMARKS WILL DEPEND ON THE PERFORMANCE SETTINGS AND WHAT YOU CAN GET OUT OF YOUR MACHINE, I USE WINDOWS XP 32 BIT 2.7 CORE DUO PROCESSOR AND IT WORKS OK FOR ME WITH VDJ7.01

AND I HAVE A NOTEBOOK WITH A DESKTOP I7960 PROCESSOR AND tHAT SYS HAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE V7S OR NS7... AND IM RUNNING MY LATENCY AT 128(2MS) ON BOTH SO YOU MIGHT HAVE NO PROBLEM RUNNING IN 32 BIT MODE, I FEEL THAT WINDOWS 32 IS FINE WITH VDJ, BUT THATS JUST MY EXPERIENCE - IT MAY NOT BE YOURS - GOOD LUCK

Jamm

PS SORRY ABOUT CAPS

OK, I finally switched to windows 7 32-Bit for my system and have everything installed and ready to go. Now everything is working much better with the V7 BUT now every minute or so VDJ just pauses and resumes a second or two later, does anyone know what I should try to fix this?

Thanks for all the help so far, I am ready for this to be a stable setup that I don't need to mess with anymore.

sounds like a latency checker issue, you need to run the Dpc latency check tool while using the v7s and see if when your problem happens if the latency spikes...

http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

use this link and download the tool, If your latency spikes then your equip stops then something that is running in windows is causing it, could be wireless card or ? --> good luck

also may be a silly question, but did you go to numarks website and download the windows 32bit drivers for, im sure it probalbly wouldent install the 64 bit but im not sure- Im really hoping you get the issue resolved, the numark is a fine piece of equipment and i would hate for it tonot work for you also, after you have spent all this time and money --- JAMM

OK, i couldn't figure out how to get that latency checker tool because the link was bad. However, I disabled my wireless internet and mixed for about 30 minutes (scratching more than i usually would) and everything was perfect, not a single drop of the audio. Answering your other question: Yes i definitely have the 32 Bit drivers for the v7. I guess from now on I will not be connected to the internet while DJing, not a bad compromise for how awesome the V7 is. Thank you for all the help and hopefully this setup will be good for a while.

--Awesome---
DLEBO THIS IS NOT DIRECTED AT YOU IN ANY WAY .. ITS JUST IM USING YOUR SITUATION TO BACK UP SOMETHING IVE SEEN SO MUCH OF THAT JUST GETS TO ME !

So you see, VDJ was NOT THE PROBLEM, IM VERY HAPPY FOR YOU,AND IM GLAD THAT ITS WORKING OUT FOR YOU ..I bet with a few tweaks you can get it working even better and also a good usb cable does make a difference at least for me it does. YOU SHOULD USE THE LATENCY CKER, SYSCON I BELIEVE IS WHO MAKES THE ONE I USE.. THINK ABOUT DOWNLOADING GAMEBOOSTER ITS FREE , TURN IT ON PLAY WITH IT TWEAK IT. IT WILL DISABLE UNNECESSARY SERVICES, TRY IT OUT IT MAY GIVE YOU EVEN BETTER PERFORMANCE...

I HAVE BEEN USING VDJ FOR YEARS AND IVE BEEN DJING VIDEOS IN A FEW DIFFERENT NIGHTCLUBS FOR YEARS.(A FEW YEARS BEFORE VIDEOSL) I FEEL VDJ IS HEADING IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION BY GIVING DJS SO MANY DIFFERENT OPTIONS ON WHAT CONTROLLERS OR TYPE OF DJ MIXING STYLE AND WHAT DIFFERENT HARDWARE YOU CAN USE, SO ONCE AGAIN ITS CLEAR HERE THAT VDJ WAS NOT THE PROBLEM HERE - AS IM TIRED OF HEARING VDJ SUCKS AND DOESNT WORK.. I WASTED MY MONEY BECAUSE VDJ SAYS IT WORKS ......BLAH BLAH BLAH. ONE THING I MIGHT ADD IS IVE BEEN ONE OF THOSE SAME TYPE OF UNHAPPY COMPLAINERS TOWARDS VDJ IN THE PAST, WHY ? BECAUSE I DID NOT UNDERSTAND THAT VDJ WORKS WITH SO MANY MANY DIFFERENT COMPUTERS AND SO MANY MANY DIFFERENT CONTROLLERS AND WITH THESE PROBLEMS ARISE THAT ARE SPECIFIC TO OUR INDIVIDUAL COMPUTERS ,VIDEO CARDS, DIFFERENT OPERATING SYSTEMS, ECO HARD DRIVES, ETC.. AND of course WHAT CONTROLLER WE ARE USING.

I WANT TO THANK VDJ FOR ALLOWING ME TO BE FREE, YES FREE TO CHOOSE WHAT I FEEL MOST COMFORTABLE USING AND HOW I WANT TO MAP MY BUTTONS.. SO THEY WORK FOR MY STYLE THE WAY I DJ, SO PLEASE ALL THE BASHERS PLEASE READ AND ASK QUESTIONS AND I WILL GLADLY HELP YOU AS WILL MOSTLY ANYONE HERE ON THE FORUM TRY AND GIVE THE BEST ADVICE POSSIBLE.

GOD BLESS FREE THINKERS( LIKE THE PEOPLE WHO DESIGNED VDJ) WHO HAVE THE ABILITY TO DREAM AND CREATE AND BE DIFFERENT AND REALLY GOOD

IM GLAD IM NOT EXACTLY LIKE YOU, WANNA KNOW WHY ? BECAUSE IM NOT IM ME. THANKS VDJ FOR NOT MAKING ME HAVE TO BE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE !

PS: SORRY ABOUT MY LAST RANT . I COULD NOT CONTAIN MYSELF. IM DONE NOW!

I agree with you I posted a latency problem post my self a few month ago . instead of getting a laptop. I decided to build a desktop(mini atx)just for veejaying , and I must admit that vdj is the bonmb . I have not performed with it yet but I practiced for more than 5 hours when I first build my computer and I had absolutely no drop,no glitch ext . I played a 300mb video on a deck and was scratching and with an other 300mb video on the other deck and was never able to get a drop or messup the sound coming out of speakers .

I forgot to say that at the same time I was also copying video from usb key to hard disk and the cpu bar barely exceded 30 %. and my mixer is midi so it also uses some cpu. I say if you have v7 or ns7 and you want to do the video thing go for a gammers desktop. it's bigger than a laptop but the result you will get is stunning.

my specs

windows 7 ultimate(64 bit)
ssd harddrive(virtual dj program and utilities)
7200 rpm harddrive(store video and audio)
256 bit video card(1gig)
i7 960 cpu
only 1 bar 4 gig memory
700 w power suply(for system stability)

the question I have now is when I will get my second table will I be able to control 4 deck . I see some skins allow you to play from 4 different decks.

by the way I7960 desktop is not the same than I7960 mobile(laptop) the desktop version is real 4 core and so powerfull. even with virus scan in the backgroung while i'm scratching looping to 300 video files, the cpu never exceded 40 percent and is at 12 or 20% most of the time.

to be honest with you I tryed everything to messup the sound coming out of the speakes and was never able to do so .I would play a large video file on a deck and manually spin the other deck(large video file) backward than spin it frontward very fast and could never get a glitch. cpu bar never exceding 20 % stays around 10 - 12 %.

The only way I could messup the sound is by changing skins while playin videos. But between me and you, why would anyone change skins during a performance ?!?

And building a desktop can be cheaper than purchasing a 3000$ laptop. And since I got a gamers mini atx case it has 3 fans in it(without counting the cpu fan, power suply fan, and video card fans. I can't wait to do my first performance.
