Topic: Another stupid mapping question

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Thanks heaps to everyone who has helped me along the way with mapping ideas. Here is the latest...

I am setting up a 2 dj 4 deck system where I can use my 1200s on decks 1 and 2 and a mate can use his mixtrack on decks 3 and 4. I have it all working great with a connectiv on mono (until I can afford a NI 8 or simlar) except one problem. When I change to using deck 2, his midi crossfader on the mixtrack starts using deck 2 also (as you would expect).

Is there any way to set a midi crossfader to only work on deck 3 and 4 instead of all decks?

Goto Config, Mappers, select the MixTrack from the dropdown menu, and assign the controler as deck 3,4 (from the mapper options button)

I'm not sure if this will work. I mean 2 crossfaders..hmmm. Try it.

No unfortunately that doesnt do it. Mixtrack crossfader still changes all decks regardless of what you set in the mapper option.

To elaborate we have the four decks feeding into a channel each on the Pioneer DJM700 mixer. We can run his 2 decks open so they are live all the time (hopefully controlled by his crossfader) and my crossfader only works my timecoded 1200s. I still need to click the correct left or right deck to get the correct video feed coming thru but thats no biggie.

Using the onboard soundcard to provide headphone cue for his decks - all controls on the mixtrack are correctly controlling decks 3 and 4.

The only problem left to overcome is his crossfader controlling all four decks instead of only decks 3 and 4.

The crossfader uses the action leftcross, rightcross, cross_assign "left", cross_assign "right". So you have to figure out a way to map those actions according to your needs.
You also have to use ONLY one midi crossfader because in case you use more than 2 you will have "accidents".

We need 2 crossfaders though - preferably mine controlling left and right decks (whichever is selected - just for video really) as audio is thru the audio on the pioneer mixer, and the mixtrack controlling just 3 and 4. Possible?

Have noticed it doesnt matter what decks you select as active or master, the crossfader still cuts the audio to decks 1 and 2. Maybe I should try making the mixtrack decks 1 and 2 and the 1200s 3 and 4?

I am not sure how to map those commands suggested above specifically for decks 3 and 4 - any help appreciated.

Thanks heaps dj dad - sometimes just need a push in the right direction. Here is what worked for me...

crossfader & deck 1 cross_assign 'thru' & deck 2 cross_assign 'thru' and deck 3 cross_assign 'left' and deck 4 cross_assign 'right'
