Topic: Help With Gigs in NYC or LA

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hey everybody,

First I would like to wish everyone a very happy new year!

I am posting because last night I was at a party where the dj was a typical serato douche (pardon the term) who had no idea what he was doing. This got me thinking about how I know I am better than a fair amount of the djs I have been hearing lately and that I would like to spread my wings a bit. Does anyone have any advice on how to get gigs in either LA or NYC? I am from LA and go to school in NY.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. I don't mean to come off as bitter or cockey, I am just frustrated and would like to get out of the frat house.

Thank you,

DJ Alpaca (Alex)

Thank you very much. I will be sure to look at that when I'm by a computer! I'll let you guys know if it works!

Thanks again,
Alex

I live in NYC. If you want gigs, make 5000 business cards & make demos cd's. Just give it it to everyone. One great thing about New York is, You can Dj 7 days a week. You can also double book and thats 14 gigs, 2 gigs each day. Example : you dj from the biggining session for 2 to 3 hours and when the next dj shows up, you head off to your next gigh in a different location. All my djs friends are doing this.

Do you happen to know someone I can shoot a dj resume at?

When I go back to school I'll be sure to schmooze some club owners at clubs I go to. I'll work on getting some cards. I have some solid demo mixes.

Thanks,
Alex

Make demo cd's. Not a resume. Any club you visit etc. Give it to the promoter or club owners. They are concerned on how you play

By "resume" I meant demo cd. Sorry about that. I will surely try to whip something up. Thank you for all the help and advice. I am just new to djing actual events that aren't set up through friends.
