So I'm a noob and want to add to my gear. I wanted to know could you/will you still get them same sound off the RMX with a decent turntable as you would with a battle mixer? Or is the RMX just not cut out to give you that sound when you scratch and so forth?

The RMX has rather respectable sound for small to medium sized operations. It really depends on which mixer you are referring to.

Well I just got this RMX and I can say the output is nothing near my mixer. I use an Ecler NUO4 so I guess thats not really fair, lol! For the size it does sound good just wish it was a little louder.
Just my opinion

No mixer in particular. I just wanted some input from more experience DJ's if you use timecodes with the RMX if you will still achive the same sound as you would with a non midi mixer when you scratch and other TT tricks.
I guess my question is I want to pick a TT up for just scratching reasons, but before I go invest In a $500 plus TT am I just tricking myself(mind) into something I don't need and just invest into a more professional controller?

Well after geting everything hooked up I had a go at it. Now by now means am I a scratch master, lol, but I can pull some flares, chrips and a few others. I do like the short crossfader, if your not careful youll cut to much...........I wish it would put out more sound but I just crank up the system a little more. Heres a screen shot of the settings for the RMX,

And my settings in VDJ,

I'm using Serato timecodes and I dont think its that bad. Give it a try and let me know what you think............

the sound will be good, but u wont be able to use the xfader for scratching n stuff cuz ti is not as smooth and responsive as regular battle mixers are, since it is midi
