Hi I'm a newcomer in deejaying and i would like to buy a midi controller that would both suit now that i only do party or house deejaying, and later on if I go professional. (at least for some time until i will have to upgrade my gear)
So my question is which of these you would suggest. Did u own any of them? I'm between the reloop, the numark mixtrack pro and numark mixtrack
First of all my needs. I dont want something that basic or entry level. Numark has less knobs, less buttons (no gain knob for example), no cup button and so on..on the otherside it has touch sensitive jogs, which i dont really care about, as i am not going to scratch with it.
As far as the material is concerned mixtrack is plastic whereas the otherone is aluminium i think, anyway something sturdier than plastic.
And now to the soundcard. I don't really know if i need one..what are the pros and cons of a built-in soundcard opposed to an external or even more to a laptop-based sound card. I have a brand new vaio, and the sound output is crystal clear, so i dont know if i need a builtinsoundcard.
Now to your opinion, please help!!
Oh and by the way, if any of you had experience with the reloop, is there any catch, any weak spot? did playing with this controller seem confusing? THNX!

Even if you're ok without it for now, you will most likely want a soundcard eventually. You need a soundcard to be able to cue one deck in your headphones while the other is playing, and it will sound better through a pro sound system.
As far as those controllers, read a lot of reviews of both products, look at which has a layout you find more comfortable, and go for which one you think suits your needs best for your style of djing. Personally, I'd go with the Numark simply because I already know and trust the brand. Though that Reloop does look pretty nice...

Here's a good starting unit, comes with VDJ LE..plus you'll get a good discount on a full pro version UpGrade when ready...

thnx for the advice but i' ve already thought the hercules option over, and i don't think that i want to give 300Euro for an RMX whereas it costs exactly the same with the reloop dj2 interface..it's just that hercules doesn't seem to be as good as the reloop brand, and as far as greece is concerned, service of hercules is worse than the worst :P

Mixtrack Pro

have you had experience with both? you seemed to be more than just straightforward with it, that is why i am asking, so would you kindly elaborate on why you'd prefer mitrack to the reloop??
thnx :)
thnx :)

I played around with both of them before I purchased. I have always been a Numark person, so I may have been a bit biased, but the Mixtrack Pro just "felt" better to me. I like the layout, the jogwheels are EXCELLENT. I ended up buying the Mixtrack Pro. The re-loop is a good piece of kit, but, like I said, I had to go with the Numark because, for me, it was the better product.

I had the Reloop unit and it kind of reminded me of a Numark total control unit, cheap and platic-ish, i did not like the feel of the jogs at all and the buttons seemed a bit hard. I sold the reloop unit a few days later after i got it, the layout was another thing i dint like about it, the controls were laid out for traktor since it come bundled with traktor le. I haven't played with the Numark Mixtrack Pro but people have been giving positive feedback on it and just from looking at the pics the jogs seem better than those found on the reloop virtual jockey unit.

thank you guys!!
ok about the jogs, they wouldnt be much of a problem for me, i don't intend to use them for my actual djing, since they aint touch sensitive and i'm not a scratch-fan
anyway :)
so you didnt really like the reloop at all? what kind of midi controller do you own now? would there be a better alternative than those two around that price? 250EURO

Yes I didn't like it at all, but don't take my word for it, walk into a DJ store and try it out first. We all have different tastes and budgets.
I have owned plenty of MIDI controllers, here's a list.
All in one MIDI controllers I have Owned,
American Audio VMS4 - to many problems with it, maybe they will be fixed with the new versions coming out, it will be solid if it's fixed.
American Audio DP2 - Couldn't get the internal sound card to work with VDJ, the MIDI functions did work.
Numark Total Control - Cheap plastic toy, no internal sound card.
M-Audio Xponent - One of my favorite MIDI controllers. I love the layout and the LEDs make the unit controls very easy to see in dark environments. I wished it had sound card inputs so we could do time codes with it.
Hercules Mk2 - Was great when it first came out, a bit toyish but it got the job done.
Hercules Mk4 - Update on the MK2, still a bit toyish but works great! Great value for the price.
Hercules RMX - Love the unit, very solid construction and doesn't carry a hefty price tag.
Reelop Digital Jockey 2 - Reminds me of a Numark Total Control, I wonder if both Numark and Reloop use the same OEM manufacture because if you put these 2 units next to each other you will notice many similarities starting with the cheap plastic toy feel.
Allen & Heath Xone 3D - It's an Allen & Heath so it sounded amazing in both Analog and Digital modes thanks to its high quality components, I loved the filter effects, plenty of MIDI control but the jogs sucked for such a high end unit. Very expensive, this Unit was discontinued and replaced by the Allen & Heath 4D.
Deck midi controllers I have owned,
Numark DMC2 - I was impressed by this unit, pretty inexpensive. No internal sound card.
Denon DN-HC4500 - Love the Denon stuff, built in high quality 24 bit sound card. Team this up with a Denon DN-X500 or DN-X900 and you can turn the crossfader of those mixers into a MIDI crossfader so you can mix videos.
Denon DN-HS5500 - Love the 2 deck in 1 design with dedicated sound card for each Virtual deck. To bad this unit was discontinued.
Denon DN-S3700 - Love the Denon stuff, built in high quality 24 bit sound card. Basically the same as a Denon DN-HS5500 but with a bigger platter and lacking the 2nd Virtual deck.
Denon DN-S1200 - Love the Denon stuff, built in high quality 24 bit sound card. Baby brother of the DN-HS5500 and DN-S3700 without the spinning platter. Same great quality and technology as the DN-S3700.
MIDI Enabled mixers I have owner:
Korg Zero 4 - Great mixer, low volume output on the headphones. Discontinued.
Denon DN-X1700, Great mixer my favorite so far.
Behringer DDM4000 - Great for the price, you can assign virtually anything on that mixer to VDJ. No internal sound card on this mixer.
