I am new to DJing and am trying to get an idea of a DJ setup I would like to have....
With 2 pioneer CDJ 850 decks and a DJM 800, what sound card would I need to purchase? Trying to use virtual DJ on my pc. I have ableton as well so I don't know if that should go into my decision of a sound card as well. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You can use any set-up that you can dream of with VDJ! But you'll have to register your software and spend the bux on the pro edition for hardware support

I did and that's what I use.

There are many sound cards to choose from one of the least expensive and commonly used is the maya 44. As far as your set up goes, VDJ will work with just about anything you want to put togeather.

That depends, are you planning to use the CDJ-850's as timecode-decks or MIDI/HID-controllers?
If the latter, you don't necessarily need a separate sound card, because the CDJ-850's have built-in USB sound cards. The problem, however, is that the built-in sound cards are output only - meaning that you can't record.

I was planning on using the 850's as time coded cd's. Outside of the recording aspect, are there other advantages to the time coding vs. MIDI?
