Topic: Got my first club gig!

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hey guys! Got my first club gig! I am a bit nervous about it, choice of music is a little bit touchy because I am a mobile DJ trying to enter this universe that is clubs!

ok so I am canadian, (québec) and I am going to spin in an event called Igloo Fest. 8 to 11 outside show with bars made out of ice and Live DJ (me duh!) and then back inside for the reste of the evening.

My question is, what is your comon club nigth structure?

8 to 10 warmup example of artists
ect... you get the point!

I know how to read the crowd, I know how to use my mic to interact with people. What do you guys think?

Congrats, welcome to the fraternity and Have fun!!!

Use the charts at zipDj to find out what's hot for starters. But don't saturate them with hit after hit. Start with the beat a bit slower (like 85bpm) and gradually work your way up to (128bpm or a bit higher). Throw in a few new releases that haven't hit the charts yet but sound like they will in your opinion.

Mixing is also going to be key, depending on your location and what the trend is in that area. Where is this event?

Hey! the event is in quebec, precisely Maniwaki Québec Canada.

French people! :)

Every place sets it's own trends. When I was in Montreal a few months back the trend at the clubs was "short shifting". Basically you hear the verse into the chorus into the next track and repeat. You'd hear about 1 minute to a minute and a half of each track. It got a bit annoying after awhile but I guess they're catering to people with short attention spans.

Read your audience, play to your audience and stay loose. I'm sure you'll do a fine job.

Best of luck.
