1. The building is generating ground loop hum. Get something like this.

2. There is something else on that line that is creating the noise; generator or refrigerator freezer, cooler. Try another line with a different breaker.

3. If you are using an extention cord, try another one that is shorter or with a thicker gauge wire.

yeh mate i reckon its the socket circuit.had loop isolater on system.changed leads/extensions ect.
only thing is where the dj sets up is beside bar so think all sockets on same circuit.i will try knock breakers down to see best option thanks for reply

Use a 12 or 14 gauge extension cord to a different socket.

Hi Staffy
If the noise you are getting is intermittent and sounds like static or clicking it may be being caused by the beer/drinks coolers. These cut in and out to maintain temperature and can cause spikes of interfearence on the mains supply.

Try to isolate which piece of your equipment is picking up the noise. IE is it the laptop/soundcard/amp and so on. Have the pub check that the power sockets are actualy earthed correctly. Try using a surge protected extension chord or as AMAHM suggests try to take power from elsware.
(Warning on this one!!!! If you take power from somewhare else in the pub, have an electrician ensure that the supply is on the same mains phase as the other power points and equipment in the area that you are working in. Potential differences of up to 415Volts can exist between phases in a comercial property and under fault conditions this can be leathal!!!!).

Good luck

Daz
