You'll have to be a bit more specific on the configuration of your set-up. Are you recording internally or externally?

Have you tried recording your mix by using the volume faders on the decks and leaving the crossfader centered?
It's definitely a strange situation.

If you are using the External Mixer option in CONFIG -> Sound Setup, then please see http://www.virtualdj.com/homepage/jpboggis/blogs/4135/Recording_your_set_or_broadcasting_when_using_an_external_DJ_mixer.html

You need to setup a loopback channel in advance SoundCard setup seperate from main output and headphone channels and use the control room output of your mixer to connect back into the laptop loopBack SoundCard channel you assigned in advance setup....
Good Luck,

ok thanks for the help. i had to set my computer "line in" setting correct to get the recording correct. now that i have that issue solved i have another issue. i am using m-audio connective with external dennon mixers and cd decks. i checked the option in the recording settings of vdj to split the files everytime i move the crossfader but the files are not splitting it just creates 1 continuouse file. cna anyone tell me what i need to do to split the files.
