I DJ with laptop and the RMX i love in to bigger mixers every now and then. But the bottom line, I have been reading on here and people do great jobs scratching and mixing with out time codes (dual cds or record players). How do I set up my VDJ to work. I have been hearing things about latency and stuff i need help post whatever links or info that can get me to the next step i want more out of my set up so i can move on to the next step.

You can adjust latency via the Hercules control panel (DJ icon in the Windows task bar.) Make sure that the console is set to ASIO mode and then adjust the buffer size as small as you can without getting sound break-up in VirtualDJ.

If you are unable to achieve a low enough setting without sound break-up/stuttering, then the following is a list of common causes of performance issues and their solutions: http://www.virtualdj.com/homepage/jpboggis/blogs/4094/Common_performance_issues_and_solutions.html

NOTE: The Hercules RMX is not ideal for scratching because it does not have touch-sensitive jogwheels. The music will only pause while you are moving the jogwheels and there will be a small delay afterwards to allow the software to detect that the jogwheel has stopped moving.

If you are serious about scratching, then you may need to upgrade to a controller with touch-sensitive or pressure sensitive jogwheels such as the new Hercules 4-Mx.

The RMX is not ideal for scratching because it doesn't have touchwheels, but if you're serious about actually scratching, a small midi controller with touchwheels won't help much either. The 4-mx is a great controller but it is not good for turntablism because the jogs are still small. If you actually want to get into scratching, you need at the very least 5 inch jogs like the pioneer CDJ 400 or the AA Radius 3000. Also, if you want to get into scratching, it helps if the controller also tracks the angle of the disk. I have a pair of V7's, which act like real turntables, but many controllers now have illuminated jogs where the light revolves around the platter, allowing you to scratch much smoother (and without having to look at the waveform to keep track of the song position).

OK, so the need to up grade to some tables.. got it.. now is there any links that let me explore my options with this set up i have? I am in Iraq so i cant get my hands on aot of stuff untill i get done with this deployment and go back to the US. But I could be getting to know this system...
