I was at work last night , with a die hard hiphop crowd.
Did the new tunes and they loved it, turned to some real classics that they even loved more and then THE Experiment:
Coolio's - Gansta's Paradise is also done by Wierd Al Yankovic ... u got it ...
i started Weird Al the crowd goes wild ( after the first tones and beats)
Then he start yapping (i will not call it rapping) and the crowt goes ... euh .... huh ..... euh .... WTF ????
Then they started smiling and made "a battle "out of it by shouting the real lyrics!!
Got some compliments on the evening but "the coolio moment" is something they will bring up for several talks coming next week :)

If you really want to impress your audience:
Rick James - Superfreak mixed with MC Hammer - Can't touch this. Same bass line - Super freak is the original
Queen - Under Pressure (orig) mix with: Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
Tainted Love - Soft Cell Mix(orig) with Rihanna - S.O.S.
Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London (orig) with KidRock - All Summer Long
Stevie Wonder - Pastime Paradise (orig) with Coolio - Gansta's paradise
You can also do an extended mashup with a classic party favorite:
Start with:
Black Betty - Ram Jam, and slam into Spiderbait - Black Betty.
Rockers in the crowd will love it.
You can do the same with:
Genesis - Land of Confusion & Disturbed - Land Of Confusion.
There are countless more.
glad you had a great time at your gig.

Yeah, But it's still about timing and getting that synergy to a fever pitch or it can go south on ya... lol.
One night, I even played the macarena for 10-15 seconds. PPL stoped and looked then the whole floor was doing it. Thats when I slipped out of it into something HOT. Why did I do it.. I guess instincted and the crowd was on a journey with me.
Nice going.. just keep rockin the house. Remember, it's not about bounderies.
Piece out!!!

I was working with a DJ one night and we were drinking alot more than we should, he was getting very messy.
Although I was a bit concerned, I ran for a toilet break and while I was there, in the middle of a hip hop set, he dropped in Bonnie Tylers ~ Total eclipse of the heart!! (no remix just the full 80's original)... By the time I ziipped up and ran to the booth, the whole crowd was swaying arm in arm and singing it at the tops of their voice.. (No-one more than my friend.)
I was dumbfounded...
It could have gone so wrong, but ended up being a total hit with the crowd in a huge sing along.
Funniest thing I've seen in ages.
Don't try this at home..

That was my biggest worry , that some guy would take it as an offense and would come up to my booth to nock my teeth out.
