so on thursday i was down at the local flea market where i spotted a dell inspiron on one of the stalls, upon inspection the hindges were loose, the bezel snapped and there battery and power lead missing.
the stall owner wanted £20 for it and me being me just had to talk them down. i paid £15 for it.. a risk worth taking for a damaged laptop. apparently it had been dropped.
anywho, i got it home, on closer inspection, the hindges were not broken and just needed a screw or 2 replacing, the bezel could be removed fully untill i grab another one.
so with everything tightened up and the system given a thorough cleaning, i rang my pal who kindly borrowed me a power lead.
well, to my surprise, when i powered it up, the sceen was fully intact and the system fully functional and working with Vista Basic, 3gig ram, 2.2ghz celeron cpu, 160gb hdd.
there was several people looked at the laptop during the time it took me to decide if i should take the risk and they all had the idea that it would never work again. as i was buying it an old guy actually came over and said "it wont work". needless to say he was completely wrong and i just landed me a laptop for £15. will cost me maybe another £30-40 for the battery, bezel and power lead. which even with those costs is still a bargain for a dell inspiron.
