I've been fighting with VDJ for the past couple days.

Every time I go to open it it gives me an error that says "Error in the sound driver (DirectX/WDM): Your soundcard is probably not connected or the settings are incorrect." I'm guessing I inadvertedly updated my soundcard drivers but even after rolling them back and uninstalling/reverting back to the basic windows sound drivers, I was getting the same error. Every time I go to click config (vdj still opens and I can load songs but nothing sounds) vdj crashes. I tried opening FL and changing from asio to the normal output but nothing. I can't find anything on the forums about it since everyone can seem to get into their settings to fix things. I even re-installed vdj and still got the same error.

I'm running Windows 7 pro. My audio card is an internal Realtek one. I'd tell you more about it but that's all the info I can find. I'm not using any kind of external controllers either.

This problem literally came out of nowhere.

Help please?

The only time this has happend to me is when I plug my sound card into another USB port. When you install drivers for a sound card, it is usually tied to just that 1 port. If you plug it into another one:

1. I would remove the drivers completely (under control panel in Windows)
2. Then restart your machine with the sound card unplugged.
3. Then reload the latest drivers and plug the USB cable in when/if it tells you to.
4. Once the install is done, do another computer restart.
5. Open VDJ (you may still get the error) and set the correct settings under the "Sound card" tab.

If you have trouble getting the correct settings, you may want to restore VDJ to it's default factory settings, under the "Options" tab.

There's no soundcard to remove. It's all on board. Whenever I click options VDJ crashes.

Try removing c:\windows\system32\rewire.dll and seeing if you can get into options then.

You're welcome.

Out of interest do you have Torq 2 installed?
