Topic: Becoming a DJ.

I've listened to music all my life. Spent most of my years counting to the beat, 1,2,3,4. When I started to DJ, I knew how to count music so all I really needed was to learn how to drop and fade and mix. I'm not saying that I'm a natural, but I already knew where the drops should go. But that didn't make me a DJ. I put together an array of equipment, sound, lights, lasers. But that didn't make me a DJ. I started hanging out with other DJs and learned to talk like them, but that didn't make me a DJ. I got a business card, but that didn't make me a DJ.
I dress kind of redneck. Lots of camo, boots, fishing caps. This weekend I went clothes shopping. Bought some brighter, fun t shirts. Big, bright logos on them, layered with other colors underneath. Got some of those colorful rubber bracelets. Spiked my hair, not like punk, but still kinda spiked. Got some old school Converse on my feet.
Did my regular gig on Saturday night. Played more hip, newer music. People looked at me differently. People approached me more. I'm no longed the guy standing there just playing the music. I became the DJ. I guess clothes really do make the man. Hard lesson learned.

For the first time in my life I have shaved all my hair off. Hopefully after a 26 year learning curve I will be a proper DJ this weekend!

Yeah it's all relevant thats why when applying with an agent they ask for a photo, you have to look like a DJ!

Research Pitbull when he was starting out, and now look at him now, totally different image. Same crappy style and voice and people made him #1

Here is what I'm talking about,

That was him back then, it's been the same music since then, all he does is take some catchy tune and add cursing or sexual innuendo and re-sell it.

All the way until today, the difference is the image.

sadly. the OP is kind of right and has a point :(

Think about it you have to look good. Your the center of attention, the guy that makes the whole place move and put there hands in the air. People are always gonna ask you for requests & look at you. They want the entertainment to look good not like some joke .... Look good my friends it will leave a impression on people.
