I just purchased a few hours ago the Numark Mixtrack Pro that comes with Virtual DJ LE. As it stands, this software won't play m4a files (ie itunes). After some searching, I found reference to changing the codec for that to point at quicktime. Is that possible in the LE version? IF not, how do I get the 20 day trial version of pro? That option is greyed out and says its used already even though I have only owned this for a couple of hours.

In LE, this is not possible. However, the latest versions of the software have built-in support for the new codecs used. The problem above is only usually a problem in older versions of the software. Make sure that you are running the most recent LE from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html
If you have been using Home FREE or have previously used a 20 day trial of the software then the 20 day trial will not be available because you have already used it. Home FREE allows Pro features to be tried for 10 minutes at a time.
NOTE: Older music downloaded from iTunes that is protected by Apple's DRM (.m4p) cannot be played in VirtualDJ and most other audio applications. These protected files can only be played on authorised Apple software/hardware, such as iTunes. iPod's, iPhones, etc.
If you are using iTunes as your music source, please ensure that you purchase music that is not DRM protected (Most new iTunes purchases are no-longer DRM protected.)
Older DRM protected tracks can be upgraded to non-DRM (iTunes+) via iTunes for a small fee per track.

Thanks for the response. Last night was my first exposure to any of the Virtual DJ products. I have never installed or demo'd any of the products prior to last night. After the CD install that came with the controller, I then registered on this site and downloaded the latest LE version available. Still no go with m4a file or the 20 day trial.
