OK Fine people, I know there is a whole slew of posts about controllers but I just need a little nudging in the right direction.
I have DJ'd for over 25 years, 20 of which were with vinyl. Five years ago I switched to digital DJing, missing out the whole CD thing completely....CDJ's???? no idea lol
Anyway intially just used my pc then bought a hercules mk2 (crossfader gave up) and currently using Hercules RMX (Crossfader has given up aswell). I play mainly clubs and bars and am just starting to get my name know around my adopted home of Cyprus. I need a new controller with the following:
2 channels only required but 4 would be fine
I dont use CD's or timecodes
I dont scratch
I want a good selection of mappable buttons and knobs
Something robust (Preferably with a crossfader that i can replace)
Internal soundcard so all I need is the controller and my laptop
Good quality sound
Portable enough that I would be able to take it on a plane.
Mic channel not required but OK if there is one.
I find the jog wheels on the rmx suitable for my needs
I had been looking at the American Audio VMS4 but it seems to have a whole bunch of negative comments both here and on the AA forum, especially about the sound. although I imagine I would nearly always be plugging into an analogue mixer of some description.
Money wise I was hoping not to have to spend more than €500 but I may be able to stretch a little further (Although will have to lie to the wife about the price!!)
So given this fairly lengthy description, anyone got any suggestions?
Cheers folks
John

Take what I am going to say with a grain of salt because I am not familiar with pricing at European locations but according to my currency converter 500 euros is currently about $715 USD
For that price you might be able to find a Denon DN-MC6000 on sale which is considered by many to be one of the best controllers with VDJ. I have seen them b-stock units for around $700 USD.

Maybe check out the Denon DN-MC6000. I have been using it for a few weeks, and i am very happy with it. It is built solid, has a small form factor and awesome jog wheels (imo). If i had one complaint, it would be the placement of the pitch control. Hope this helps. HAHA I was too slow, also what he said ^^
