Hey folks, this is my review of the Numark ns 6 after my 1st gig with it. I know a lot of people are doing this but mines comes from a hip hop r & b perspective as well as funk and soul, as i spin these regularly.
Feel : nice and solid.knobs and buttons are firm not mushy. no lag and they respond very well. faders on the volume need to be a lil tighter. They are almost as loose as the X fader Jogs are the best in the game to me. As a scratch djs...the fader is what really allows you to pull them off...most cuts and scratches can be pulled off...turntables still rule..but for what i did tracking was spot on. i was able to keep live drums on track with my pitch control and also the pitch bend buttons..they are in a good place on the outside of the jog wheels...
Sound : Incredible! Had the Numark hooked up to my ART 312A's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpKp2amV1yI&feature=related Volume on speakers was @ 11p on the dial 12 on the mixer. Sound was where it should be. plenty at the dance floor, yet you could carry a convo in the back without yelling.
everything was crisp clean sound..had to make eq adjustments through the night otherwise cool...I think i could easily do a 300 person gig with this rig...
Fx's were easy to trigger and the wet dry fader made for some memorable moments...same with the sampler...i was able do to my drops during breaks like i do in the radio..
They should have a default 2 deck plan. when you boot up sometimes the decks 3,1,2,4 become inverted...in other words...it may seem like a bleed...channel will play even with the x fader on the other channel...took a minute to figure it out...fine after that....Numark Vu meters need to be green yellow red...red with white tips goes with the color scheme leds but djs need tactful sound information... especially since there are no channel leds ...those are needed..
The lay out was ok for me...nothing seemed awkward or weird....sometimes i had to step to the side to do cuts cuz im tall..and stocky...or fat...lol anywho the on board mouse takes a lil getting used to..i was between knobs and mouse all night....
if you are looking for a complete unit to gig with i would say pull the trigger...the customer service is cool...the unit performs well and is very durable...a soft bag or ata case..(i have the one made by odyssey) to carry it and you should be good to go...I'm good with the controllers..until they add the channel leds....then i'll be breaking the bank again...
i hope this is helpful...peace

Nice review, thanks!
So what buttons do you press to trigger samples from the ns6? When I looked at photos in the past it didn't look like there were dedicated sampler buttons...
