Topic: Sampler Sync issue

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Good Day!

I am new to virtual DJ (just practicing)
I was trying to use my own loops with virtual DJ sampler (i also use fl studios with my own drum and synth loops)
However my own loops (even though I save them as .vdj and turn on beatmatch) do not sync up to the deck that they are on. While the factiry sampler files sync perfectly.

I am wondering how do I get my files to sync?

Also is there a way to route the sampler output to a specific deck?

thank you in advance for your helP!

I know what this is like - I ran into the same problem myself when I first started with VDJ...

Unfortunately the sampler in VDJ is not very intelligent, and is designed more for taking loop snippets from tracks which are loaded in the decks.

What this means is that, when a track is loaded to a deck, it gets analysed and 'beat gridded' by VDJ (so that VDJ knows the tempo). Then when you take a sample of that (record it from the deck to a sample slot) that gridding info is retained and saved with the sample.

However, if you load a sample into a sample slot from elsewhere (and therefore it has no VDJ beat grid info) the VDJ sampler is too dumb to know the tempo of it, and so can't sync it. And there's no way of 'telling' the sampler the tempo, other than loading the sample to a deck first, and then recording it back into the sampler......

It's a shame that Atomix have left the sampler to languish for so long, and have not updated it - but that's how it is.

Just rewire fl studio into vdj.

That's pretty much my next step, I'll be fighting with that later

Yeah it's annoying but easy to get around.

Just get your loops onto a deck in vdj and make sure the beat grid is spot on (there are instructions in the manual for how to do this) and then make a vdj loop around the section you want (or the whole thing) and hit the record button on the sampler and that's it!

Not exactly intuitive, but it does work :D
