I recently acquired a numark stealth control "mixing station" if you will. I can plug it into my computer and use virtual dj pro bla bla bla. What I need to know is what cord I need to connect speakers to my computer. Send me a link to one if you can and tell me what the cord is called. Thanks!

Hey,

The Numark Stealth is a midi controller. It is not a sound card. it will control VDJ but you will need to get a good sound card with multiple outs, such as an M-Audio Fast Track Pro, to take advantage of excellent sound quality, low latency, and an independant headphone cue mix. Once you get a sound card, you would normally feed that into an external mixer, then into a power amp that your speakers plug into. If you have powered speakers, the sound card could plug directly into them.

Hope this helps a bit.

Actually thanks a lot, becuase I realized my bro (from whom I got the numark stealth control from) has an m-audio fast track pro. Thanks a ton man. I'm thinking about starting to dj some school dances.

Excellent. Hope to see you as a Professional Edition user soon.

One other thing. How do I connect the fast track pro, laptop, and stealth control, and speakers. What connects to which and how.

The Stealth control plugs into the laptop via USB. The Fast Track Pro plugs into the laptop via USB as well. The first set of audio outputs on the back of the Fast Track Pro connect to an external input on a mixer. The output of the mixer connects to the input of a power amp. The output of the power amp connects to your speakers.

You will need to download and install the M-Audio USB driver. When you plug in the Fast Track, you will need to make sure that the computer recognizes it. You will do this by bringing up the M-Audio control panel and seeing that it says it is connected to the sound card.

In VDJ you will select under "Sound Setup" the following:

Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphone
Sound Card: Asio Driver

Then select M-Audio USB as your device.

On the Fast Track itself is a button labled A/B. You will have to play with this a bit. The idea is that channels 1/2 are your main left and right out to the audience. Channels 3/4 are your left and right to the headphones. The audience should only hear what is playing on one deck, while you hear through the headphone jack on the Fast track, the other deck that you are cueing up the next peice of music on.

Under "Performace" you will want these:

Auto Latency, Safe Mode unchecked
Optimize Scratch for latency
Advanced stretching

Start with these. You don't want any cracks or clicks in the music.

Good Luck,

DGee

It should be noted that he may run into issues since he is not using the full pro version. The Home Free edition is limited in what devices and soundcard setups are allowed.

Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it.
