I was thinking about purchasing the Hercules MK4 for use with Virtual DJ.

However, I am currently using the Numark cd mix 1 http://www.numark.com/cdmix1 With an auxilary connection to my computer. My speakers are line inputs which connect to the back of the Numark.
The problem is there are no line inputs on the Hercules. Is there something else I could buy with line inputs for my speakers that would connect to the Hercules?
I know this question is probably stupid but I really am a beginner and was hoping someone here could help. Thanks.

Not sure what your issue is -
From the description of the Hercules
Technical specifications
Built-in audio
2 stereo outputs
2 types of plug per output:
Mix output (channels 1-2)
- 2 RCA for hi-fi & mixers
- 1 stereo 1/8" jack (3.5mm) for multimedia speakers
Preview output (channels 3-4)
- 1/4" jack (6.35mm) for headphones
- 2 RCA for speakers
I am assuming by line inputs you mean RCA? Or are you referring to the XLR outputs form the CDmix?
The Hercules will connect to the laptop by USB and the speakers will connect from"Channel 1-2" output RCA connections. If you need to go from RCA -> XLR the cables are readily available.
If you are using PC speakers the input will go to the 1/8" output jack
The "Channel 3-4" will be used to monitor your cue typically through headphones but it gives you the option of using speakers which is not typically used.

Okay that makes more sense. I have two speakers, so would two of these work?

Yep, one for each speaker. There are a lot of controllers with only RCA outputs that people need to get an xlr connection for amps and speakers so using these is pretty common. I have a pair to connect my mixtrack pro to my active speakers.
Good luck with everything :)

However converting RCA plugs to XLR plugs won't convert the signal from UNBALANCED to BALANCED.
Most of the time this won't be an issue, but if you run LONG cables to your speakers (5 feet = 8 meters or more) then you might experience some signal strength loss or even noise from interferences with other devices. The second issue is the worst one and it's very common if your power cables run along with your signal cables.

Very Good points phantom. If you hear a low hum that is interference from power cables, AC runs at 60HZ so that would be the frequency of the hum. Be sure to keep power and signal lines separate, the thicker the insulation on the cables the better as well.
Since the only outputs he has are RCA and his only inputs are XLR I don't see many other choices except a different controller.

Or a cheap EQ with XLR outputs... :P (Usually that's how I convert an Unbalanced signal to Balanced)

It's a quote from a TV show - It means " you got me on that one" in a humorous way.
