You don't have to use value.
VDJ use the position of the song when you strike your shortcut.

I found it necessary to have 3 shortcuts to have loop in/loop out work properly. I set up all three with VDJ.
1. Set one shortcut for loop in
2. Set another for loop out
3. Set a third for loop and reset the loop with that shortcut
