Topic: Help getting CD's to my hard drive

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

What is the best way to get my CD's to my hard drive... 1) What is the best program to do that... 2) Is it best to us the internal hard drive or a portable external drive... 3) What is the best format (MP3?)... 4) What is the best way to keep them catagorized once they are on th ehard drive... I'm trying to stay away from using iTunes... I'd appreciate any help you can give me... I am running the latest version of VDJ, Windows 7 and using a Denon MC6000 mixer...

1) Sadly ..... itunes
2) Whichever drive rips your CD's fastest
3) MP3 192kps will do fine, but if you hit "custom" and have a lot of drive space you can go up to 320kps
4) I keep them by year but everyone has a different opinion on this.

iTunes actually is the easiest free program to use for this, it also connects to CDDB and will tag (to a point) all the tracks for you. You can always just uninstall iTunes fully once you're finished :)

P.S. Please don't post the same question multiple times in different threads.

EAC (Exact Audio Copy) far more professional than itunes and configurable to your requirements.

If you have promo cds or even nu music traxx or store baught cds the best program thats out there is mediamonkey this program will also pickup all the artist names and titles . cost is only $25.00 worth every penny !

I recommend Audiograbber, it's Freeware and you can rip from 32 -320kps It uses the online CDDB to tag the tracks. I rip everthing at 320 these days.

I'm sure there are many good programs but I've used a simple little program called CDEX for many years: http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/

When I rip to mp3 I set it to 320 kbps, non-variable bit rate, and this program does a great job for me. If it can pick up the artist/song information from the disc it will, if not, you can enter it before ripping so the tags will already be there when the files are ripped.

Just curious, why are so many people anti-iTunes? I love iTunes, and it does everything I need it to do.

Because in my case it tries to take control of my computer. Even after uninstalling everything Apple I am still getting pop ups advising me to upgrade to the latest I-tunes.

I DON'T WANT I-TUNES old or new. It's worse than Google or microsoft for constant nagging. Even worse than my wife :)

Oh, it doesn't do that on a Mac.

You need to uninstall the Apple software updater as well and it's all gone, even on Windows.

Keith

....And a registry clean, just to complete the job...

Its because you still have Apple Update installed, its a separate uninstall. It manages all Apple software updates if you had more.

Did I not just say that 2 posts before .... ??????

Thanks guys. Off to try it.

Steve

Steve, I've tried it on the wife, doesn't work on mine.
