I'm in the market to get some equipment, but I'm torn on what I should do.

Right now, I'm looking at getting a midi/mixer. VMS4/4.1, or the Denon DN-MC6000
Before anyone tells me not to buy the VMS4, I've yet to have any problems with any of the things I've read up on. So, it's hard to warrant paying 300 extra for problems that don't affect me. Then, if I'm going to spend that much, I might as well get the Denon, right?

Then, the more I think about it, if I'm going to spend 7-900 on a midi/mixer, I might as well save up some more and get some CDJ's.

I'm torn on what to do right now.

Depends on what you want to do and your preference. If you don't do timecode then the Denon is excellent.

I wouldn't recommend AA gear as the VMS4 I had was a disaster, but everyone has their own opinion :)

There's one of these threads appears every week and the bottom line is for you to go to a local dealer if that's possible and try then out for yourself.

I'm sure you guys get these threads a lot. I don't mean to add more spam to the clutter, I've read up on a few threads, viewed a few videos, and I'm still stuck on what to do.

So far, I'm leaning towards the VMS4.1. I don't mind the VMS4, but I figure I might as well get up to date if I'm going to buy some new equipment.

@blose91: DO NOT post your item for sale again on the VirtualDJ forums or your account will be locked.

@ sSynster. Instead of getting the VMS4, the Numark N4 is a better deck. You will feell the difference. If you want to spend alittle more than 700, get the Numark NS6 deck.

I owned the VMS4 , not bad for someone that is just starting out , I returned mine and went with the Denon Dn-mc6000 I even noticed the sound card that is built in the Denon sounds alot better , and the controls are alot smoother. Worth spending the extra money

I would always go with CDJ's. The problem with controllers is that if you are in the middle of a gig and your laptop takes a dump, you have nowhere to go unless you know how to sing really well. With CDJs you can always pop in a back up CDs with your set on it and keep going.

This very instance happened to me at a huge New Years Eve gig in 2010. I was using Traktor then and Traktor froze @ 11:30PM. 1.5hr into the gig right before midnight. I had a total of .30sec dead air while I switched my CDJ from MIDI to CD mode. And the party went on. I was not able to take request at that point, but the party went on and I got paid at the end of the night. Had I been using a controller, dead air would've been longer while I tried to work out what happened, or switch to another laptop. People woulda started leaving or pissed off. Club manager would've been on my ass and a good chance for no check that night.

You get paid by cheque on the night? you must be new to this game lol
