I have Virtual DJ 7 running on Toshiba laptop Windows 7 (64 bit). I have the VJD configured for headphones with left channel master , right channel headphones. When i I use pcl select I still get signal from preview song on one of my speakers and also on the headphones along with the currently selected song. Using typical ipod type splitter cable. Any suggestions.

make sure your splitter is MONO not STEREO

If you are playing out live then a proper dedicated DJ sound card is strongly recommended, such as Numark DJIO. This will give you STEREO sound and better quality overall.
Otherwise, add a basic stereo USB sound card and use the 2 cards option to output your master sound in stereo through your laptop and your headphones in stereo through the USB sound card.
