Topic: Laptop video cards

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hello everyone, I recall reading a while back about I believe ATI video cards only for laptops having issues with video freezing. I have one on my current laptop and I do get a slight freeze. It was said something about the drivers or a memory leak? I tried everything recommend on this website to fix it but never could. I have a desk top with an ATI video card and have no problems what so ever with the video. I am in the market to buy a new laptop and I want to make sure the next one I get works flawlessly.

The last laptop I had should have been able to handle video well when you take under consideration as to what VDJ has listed for min specs. It was an HP quad core with 4 gigs of DDR3 Ram and a 1 Gig video card.

Please advise asap because I don't want to make the same mistake again. The next laptop I get will also be an HP.

Respectfully, DJ VooDoo

Which Videos Freeze ? HD videos ? I have a Quad Core 2.2 Ghz with 8 gigs of ram and the Radeon 6750 1 gig video card and i get freezing when i play the new videos that are 720p or 1080p h.264 quality. All the new videos are in HD.

Voodoo u can pm me for the steps if you wish.

Best regards

I have a new Toshiba Qosmio i7, quad core 2.2ghz and a Geforce GCard and I get skipping in my video playback... WTF??? Any solutions or things I can try. I've downloaded gamebooster and used DPC latency check - no significant improvement. However I did not configure much of anyting in the gamebooster app - would that help???

so i turned off hardware accelerator and the problem was fixed - but I am concerned now bc that message says some video effects or transitions may not work... SMH

I've found changing the videomaxmemory setting helps. I have a 2gb video card. If I set it to max 512 I can usually play for a couple of hours without freezing, if I change to 256 I can normally get 4 hours.

I'll try setting it to 16. Never thought of going that low to be honest. Will it reduce performance or is it just about how the memory is used as videos are loaded??

Have you tried the registry tool as posted above?
Or looked in the FAQ?
