WOW that's my idea of entertainment, except for the hideous Nikki Minaj fiasco near the end

i was pleased to see Adele and Taylor and Foo's n the band Perry do so well

always good but unusual anymore to see people with decency class and talent win

which is why nikki and drake didn't

yes the great philosophers who said " everybody dies but not everybody lives" and "the square root

of 69 is ate something" didn't exactly sweep ......btw , that's not in the preamble to the ...nevermind

Kanye didn't steal Taylor's mic this year .... oh yeah, he wasn't there

maybe he'll steal it twice next year.....which reminds me ....

Taylor sang Mean and changed a verse to "i'll be singing this at the Grammy's, but you'll still be mean"

Karma is an amazing thing

you go girl .....and she looked genuinely stunned and affected by the crowd's ovation .......

Adele deserved it all , she sounded great

interestingly , i thought , she said " this isn't really a pop album " .......

which, i agree to some extent ....it's too good for a demeaning tag like that .....

pop usually means an abbreviation for popular , and popular , in and of itself , isn't automatically a

bad thing.... but it can also mean soda pop , which is fizzy and bubbly but other than that bears

no other resemblance to champagne ......... 21 is Champagne

speaking of which , Tony Bennett , Stevie Wonder, Dianna Ross , the guy from Liverpool .....lotsa star power

making cameos , performing ,MC'ing ........LL Cool J was a GREAT MC

Bruce's "We take care of our own" .....great opening tune

LL Cool J handled a tough situation really well

His prayer was great , his own demeanor was upbeat

and despite some of the sad things about 2011 it never got maudlin

Let's talk about Whitney for a sec

her National Anthem was incredible ....

her cover of " I will always love you" amazing

and the dance songs ......wow

Arista had to rush into production the release of the single of The Star Spangled Banner

and it became Arista's fastest selling single.....

i got more ....

oh yeah Beach Boys and Glen Campbell

Foster The People covering the Beach Boys ?? really ?

that was stiff and crappy ........

the show went out on a big upbeat wave thanks to Sir Paul

he and his live band did the ending medley from Abbey Road ( which has been hugely popular

on his recent tours) and reminds us ...." the love you take ....."

i hope you know the rest of that line

it won for "lifetime achievement, beacon to western civilization category"

in Chuck's opinion......

BTW , did you see HomeBoy ? i never knew he's Sir Paul's drummer ! wow

Teary i was less than pleased at seeing him there, i'm not ok with him or what

he did / does.....

ALSO it occurs to me that the Grammy board was saying that "we take care of our own"

maybe they should change that to "we take care of our own" sometimes , maybe ......

The grammy's was great.
I loved Sir paul's performance, he is in my top 10 all time favorite artists.
Foo fighters was great; I remembered when they had their first hit, i think it was "learn to fly" I could not get that song out of my head.
Jennifer Hudson in my opinion has the most powerful voice in the music business; even though she was subdued with her rendition of I will always love you, The only person, that can almost sing like her is beyonce. Hudson's voice is as powerful as they come; she can hit high and low notes effortlessly and reminds me of Aretha.
David guetta makes great music but I am watching him on stage just turning down the bass and turning it up; I mean is that necessary to even have him on the stage just to do that. He has this elaborate setup just to turn down bass..lol. Anyway, I love his song with Usher - Without you and his song with Nicki Turn me on.
Nicki's performance was way over the top; She is just like the old Madonna, and Gaga who does all this over the top stuff to get attention. Some of it can be good and some bad. Lastnight was more bad but I still enjoyed it. She is a very talented performer.
Adele swept; I am not surprised; amazing voice and amazing album. It was like Michael Jordan at the Grammy's.

I don't know about that. Let me rephrase... I DO know about that. Beyonce can't hold a candle to Jennifer Hudson. Not even close.

The Grammy's was a good show this year. The inclusion of Chris Brown had me slightly dismayed. I don't walk in his shoes and I don't walk in Rihanna's either. What he did to her was despicable and deplorable.
Believe it or not, people can change and some people actually do change. I don't know if he did, I don't know if he did not but he and Rihanna have their own kind of personal relationship and it's not for me to question. (at least not at this point).
If Chris Brown has indeed changed his ways then I am happy for him. If he has not then I pity him because it's a horrible thing to live with that kind of hatred and anger within yourself.

Nicki Minaj is a sideshow that will fade away in due time (I think time is about due now).
Her show was over the top and not in a good way. I wish she would have put the same effort and time into a performance that was a little more positive and WAY less controversial.
Fads and gimmicks come and go. Nicki Minaj is a fad. She is a gimmick.

There was a lot of REAL talent on display.
I am happy to know that people still remember what that is and it was recognized during the Grammy's.

I think the point of the article I posted was missed. As a society we continue to praise women who allow themselves to be abused. Conversely, we are too quick to forgive the abuser. Which only perpetuates the cycle. The Grammys are a perfect example of that. Taylor Swift had Kanye West grab the mic out of her hand at the VMAs a couple years ago. Where was the outrage from the industry? Adele had Karl Lagerfeld call her out for being "fat". Once again I ask, where was the outrage? Children take the lead of these morons. Much to the detriment of our future...

I totally disagree with you that Nicki Minaj is a fad. She has more hits than any other female rap artist that came before her; so that alone proves she is not a fad. She have been on the radio and charts since she came out and she currently has a top 10 hit with David Guetta called Turn me on. She is over the top with her fashion and some of her songs are just too much but that is just one end of the stick. At the other end, she is consistently making rap hits and colaborations (too many to mention). She also has a number of dance hits (where dem girls at with Flo Rida and David Guetta, Check it out with Black eyed peas, and Turn me on with David Guetta, which was number one downloading song in Itunes and made the top 10 in the UK, France, Germany and Australia.

You may not like her but trust me when I say she is no fad.

Just watched the grammys lot of "Interesting" performances. Liked the Brumo Mars number, the chris brown solo, David Guetta/Deadmau5. just one question ...... WTH was nicki minaj doing.... couldnt figure it out, I thought Gaga was strange but that Nicki's performance was ummmm perplexing. wonder who came up with THAT idea

While it may seem contrary to my previous post, I totally agree Terry.

You know how old I am. How long I've been around.

I am still waiting for history to repeat itself within our music. Oh don't get me wrong. We have had returns to when music was MUSIC. We do have artists who liken to artists of old.

The problem that I see is a lack of respect and frankly, a total lack of class in our industry, our artists, their music and the fans of that music. The lack of respect allows for the garbage we hear and the nonsense we see and endure from our artists.
Don't get me wrong, our greatest artists of old had their problems and issues. (rampant drug use and abuse, domestic abuse, womanizing and the like)
It was not in our faces then like it is now.

The revolution I look for is the POSITIVE one we had for a time in the 80's and 90's. The STOP THE VIOLENCE movement. The INCREASE THE PEACE movement. the FIGHT THE POWER movement.

Chris Brown is but an example of what has always been in the music industry and indeed in our society as a whole. It's just more in our faces now.

We need the labels, producers and artists to step up and advocate for and produce quality music with quality content. The industry needs to raise its standards. The industry needs to stop following the misguided kids that buy and download all the garbage and instead lead our youth through more positive content.

I'm not saying to be corny and cheesy but to be other than vulgar and depraved in content.

Maybe then we will be able to have a Grammy Awards show that we can watch and be proud of. Maybe then we can have a Superbowl halftime show we don't have to edit and blur out. Maybe then we can have music we can actually PLAY without fear of profanity in every other word that can offend people.
Maybe then.............

vulgar and depraved ? wish i'd said that

give the man a raise

i agree about nicki , i hope she's a just a low class fad ....

her voice is very annoying, and her raps pathetic

i thought the country people and rockers presented themselves well, and the pseudo diva's (jennifer

hudson excepted) and the rappers receded back a bit , i hope that's a new trend

joe walsh was everywhere

whatsisface from the Foo Fighters gave a great impromptu speech .....

i really hope the so called street music has FINALLY hit bottom , and maybe they will try to

turn a page ?

i mean , what's left they have glorified the ghetto, poverty, abusing women, shooting each other

pimping , drug dealing , no snitching , skipping out on child support , cursing ....??

can they do ANYTHING that's not so vile ??

again Homeboy on drums for Sir Paul was great , i didn't know he played drums ......

also Chad Smith w/ the Red Hot Chili Peppers looks just like Will Ferrell .......

I was glad to hear Dave Grohl (foo fighters) sum it up when he said that "good music come from here (heart) and here (head) and not from computers" i hope Lil Wayne, Drake & Nicki heard that, cus everything they are putting out there blows bull balls... and whassup with French Montana & Waka Flocka Flame? the hip hop industry has really taking a dive... but there is still good music out there, just have to look deep in there...

waka flocka flame ........????????

gesundheit

the music conservatory of the future ......

"today class we will practice singing off key , we will not play an instrument , we will

be self important, steal microphones from little girls , practice our f bombs, and practice

searching for a good criminal attorney"
