Hi,

I have an off day today and thought I would finally install VDJ on my ,old backup laptop.
I now have PCDJ install on my backup but I haven't used it really since I got VDJ.
However, I would like to install VDJ on this Laptop just in case I need to use.

Here is the error message I got when trying to install:

"The Procedure entry point EncodePointer could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernel32.dll"

This old laptop in running XP Home.

Thanks before hand and hope some one can help.

This is what I found on google:

"You are using a program that requires a version of windows later than Windows XP Service Pack 1. Visit the Microsoft website and get the latest service pack for Windows XP"

OK... :)

I was able to install VDJ 7 on my 10 year old dell laptop.

This Inspiron has... Hey...!!! and don't laugh...!!!

>>> 512 mb of RAM
>>> Windows XP with SP 3
>>> 30 g hard drive (yes 30 g) but it is able to use usb external hard drive with no problems.
The video card is so poor that on this laptop I have turn off showing the cover art which I love to see. Since this is my back and since I worked with PCDJ which didn't cover art I'm ok with this for now on my backup system...

Stievie Gonzales, thanks for helping....

Backup laptop is working fine but I still have PCDJ loaded but I don't plan to use it anymore...

I hope this helps other who may have this same type of problem...

CadDog Out...

You're welcome, glad I could be of any assistance ;)

You can also try and use Gamebooster 3, it shuts down all the unnecessary background programs if you should use VDJ on your backup laptop.
This can also help improve performance ...

Thanks Stievie,

The first day I got this laptop I knew to delete all dell's programs and only left word working. I disconnected all the internet stuff as well.

However, I will look into gamebooster 3 tonight.

BTW: I went through VDJ and stop the video stuff and try to reduce any use of the ram. I also am using a skin with using select ram.

Again, since this is my backup I'm very happy that VDJ install at all. I don't see me needing it but I like to have a backup just in case.

Thanks and I will post later if I have any questions and problems.

I installed an additional 2 gb Sunday...

I had an other dell d520 that a friend didn't want
and when my screen started to go out Friday I thought
I would try his. The screen is like new since he only used it for
a year before his hard drive or cpu died. While installing the screen
I found that his laptop had a 2 gb installed. So I added it too...

Both the screen and the ram is working great in my laptop now...

Good thing I thought of keep his around...

I'm now running with 3 gb....

:o)
