After all of the hype about the 400, I have not heard much about it's performance. Now the hype is about the 380, which is a two channel 400 plus a little Twitch added in. Where have all the 400 owners gone? Was it worth the investment? We all know that the 380 will eventually be mapped to VDJ, is that what everyone is waiting on. Give me your two cents!

I'm not sure it'll be natively mapped, twitch never was... but there is nothing stopping you from doing it if you get one though it's just an xml file for the definition then you can map it in vdj with all the functions.
For me even though the 380 is prettier, it's the 400 I'd get if I had the coin, it's more versatile being 4 channels, but it depends on what you want really... Personally I can't see a good use for the velocity sensitive pads accept for mpc style drumming of samples as it is too hard to maintain an even pressure on the pads, and you already get 12 of them on the 400... it would be good for dubstep, drumstep and moombah though as that style of music thrives on mayhem.

the reason you'r not hearing so much about the VCI400 could be that everyone is happy with it and people only seam post about problems with software or controllers on the net. Happy costumer just don't post anything.

I think most peoples controller needs were well satisfied before the new VCI's dropped, sure they're quality looking products but a lot of VDJ users bought the MC6000 and are very happy with that, so no need to spend more money on hardware just yet, of course I know a few picked it up and I've only read positive reviews.
One of the reasons I got rid of my VCI-100 was the fact I didn't like the feel of the jogs, for the size they were very heavy (metal) and the outter rim being glass just didn't make for a comfortable experience for me, the MC jogs are slightly on the small side but are comfortable being in the same style as the CDJ's.

The VCI-400 is for me the best controller, I have laid my hands upon/ owned. The audio quality is unparalleled, it's built like a tank -while being lightweight and the layout gives you more options than you can actually handle. I do not see getting bored of this baby any time soon. I own it for almost half a year and I do not even use 20% of its potential. Then again, for other DJs this can be a disadvantage, since they prefer tight integration and not messing around with mappings.
In my opinion, this fact, along with the price, are the main two reasons those haven't sold as much... The only other controller, in this price range, that I consider as competition is the MC6000, which has a different target group, that being mainly mobile DJs.

LOVE mine! It's awesome and if you can see yourself mapping all those buttons to some cool effects in the future then it's definitely for you. If not, you won't really be making the most of it- but it still kicks ass.
The sound is fantastic and the buttons feel great too and the jogs are tight too- so all round winner!

That's a big topic about happy VCI400-users ;)

Yes I have read/followed that post. I guess that I just expected a lot more said about the VCI 400. I can understand how with so many buttons and options, it takes a while to truly know what it can do. Keep the comments coming!

I know it is the best controller , but I need the standalone-mixer driver they promise to be released in April. Not ready yet. I own the vci300 and I am very happy. The position of each button and the lights underneath makes it very clever machine at low light conditions.

The stand-alone mixer functionality is very important, but what would actually "unleash the beast" is VDJ8, with a new sample bank!

The main problem for me with this type of product is the lack of decent microphone channels.
It seems like they get added as an afterthought. Jack socket only. On the rear. Volume only. Great!
It would be far better if the input was a combi XLR/jack, and had at least bass & treble control, ideally midrange too (it's a mic input - midrange is important).

That's why I went with the mc6000. Three band eq on both mics. Who wants to reach in the back of a mixer to turn the mic up? I guest you can't put it in a rack. Did I mention the eq on the booth out? You just have to pick the one that has the features you want. None of them are perfect for everyone.

quick question to VCI 400 owners. Is it timecode capable with VDJ without the need for any additional soundcards?
Inviato Thu 28 Jun 12 @ 10:04 am
Hi yes it should be, but I haven't personally tested it.

I went to my local Dj store and saw side by side The Reloop 4 channel Midi deck and the Vci 380. The Reloop deck looks really nice. The jog wheels felt very good and its a nice size. The deck didnt feel cheap. It has 4 deck and it even has a both output.

I guess we never got this cleared ha.
Im thinking of upgrading my mc6000 to a vci400 but it would be pointless if the VCI400 soundcard doesnt support time code.
Ultimately i want to be able to switch my TTs from vinyl to timecode without having to unplug cables from the soundcard box and replug them into the mixer.
