Hey everyone, i am new to this whole djing business. My bestfriend and i decided that we would like to start our own djing business and are trying to go the cheapest way of doing so. now im pretty familiar with car audio and not completely clueless so i do know some things.

we plan on using virtual dj and using a 1/8th to two 1/4th jacks cord to connect the computer to the amp (just like this http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CMP153-Cable-Inch-Dual/dp/B000068O3C) because you have to have the two 1/4th to go into both channels correct? you cant just use a 1/8th to one single 1/4th cord. someone correct me if i am wrong please

then you plug those to the amp and then out of the amp to the speakers. we plan on using FOUR Gemini GSM-1585 speakers that we found for sale locally for $200 which is a steal! the speakers are 175w RMS and 8-ohms.

so to achieve this power i would need either a 4 ch amp, which i have found very few of and they are all expensive. two 2ch amps one ch per speaker. or i could also get a single 2 ch amp and wire the speakers in parrallel correct? since all speakers are 8 ohms wiring them in parralel would make a 4 ohm load for the amp therefore i would need a 2 ch amp that has the power to handle (175x2) 350 watts per ch with a 4 ohm load but you also want to leave some room so you arent making the amp work as hard as possible so like an amp thats rated at 400-500 watter per channel. then i would just go out of ch a on the amp to speaker 1 and then out speaker 1 to speaker 2 then out of the amp on ch b to speaker 3 then out speaker 3 to speaker 4.

will someone please clarify that all of my thinking is correct or please correct me if i am wrong. thank you so much in advance!

Not all amps are equal. Just like car audio you want RMS power not peak power. Your thinking is right. You need a two channel amp wiring in parallel to achieve a 4 ohm load.

Now the question is where do you plan to DJ? That setup with 175 watt speakers are not going to be suited for a very big venue. You will not. E able to produce a lot of volume and low end bass.

just started off djing going to be a mobile dj for like dances and weddings and such, i was told they would be a good set of starter speakers
